”I would write FAQs for older NES games in my free time, then in 2002 when I was 17 and about to start college, IGN reached out to me and asked me to write strategy guides for them.”

Kinda Funny

On January 5, 2015, Colin and other IGN producers and editors (Nick Scarpino, Greg Miller, and Tim Gettys) left IGN to found Kinda Funny, an online entertainment company that produces podcasts and videos on comics, television, film, and video game culture.

Kinda Funny was funded mainly through crowdfunding on Patreon and viewer support.

On March 30, 2016, the company formed a partnership with Rooster Teeth by joining the LetsPlay Network. Rooster Teeth Productions is an American entertainment and media company that was founded in 2003 by Joel Heyman, Gus Sorola, Jason Saldaña, Geoff Ramsey, Matt Hullum, and Burnie Burns. Rooster Teeth has its headquarters in Austin, Texas, and is owned by a division of Otter Media.

At the end of 2016, Kinda Funny had a decked-out San Francisco studio where they recorded all their videos, a full-time employee, and two Patreon pages with more than 12,800 patrons.

During an interview, Greg Miller said:

“2016 was an insane year for us. We moved from a spare bedroom to a real studio, launched an animated series, and sold out a 1,000-seat venue for Kinda Funny Live 2.”

Greg continued:

”All of this is thanks to the overwhelming and unending support we receive on Patreon.”

Miller later added:

”We’re a 2-year-old business that could never achieve the dreams if we didn’t have an army of Best Friends supporting us each and every day.”

On March 13, 2017, following a difference in creative vision with the rest of the company co-founders, Colin announced his resignation from ”Kinda Funny.”

During the Kinda Funny Morning Show that day, Miller gave more details:

“We’re super sad. We had a long conversation today. The long and short of it is, we’ve been moving in two directions for a long time.”

He also went on to say:

”There’s no hurt feelings; we’re not mad at him, he’s not mad at us. We’re just going in two completely opposite directions in terms of what we want to do and that’s OK.”

Greg continued:

“The tweet and the whole exchange last week, while upsetting, obviously, is not because of that. That is a symptom, if not the most public expression, that there was something happening in terms of us growing apart.”

Moriarty declared:

“It’s with a heavy heart and great sadness that I announce my resignation from Kinda Funny, effective immediately.”

Colin Moriarty – Net Worth

So, how much is Colin Moriarty worth?

Moriarty earned most of his wealth from working at IGN and co-founding a company called Kinda Funny.

Since he left Kinda Funny, he made his own show and has over 12.7K patrons on Patreon. However, you can’t see how much he earns on Patreon anymore.

When he was asked about the reason, Colin wrote on Reddit:

”I’ve been thinking about doing it for a while, but after seeing Philip DeFranco, Sam Harris, and KF do it, I decided I should, too.”

Moriarty also wrote:

”The reason? It’s simple. I’m sick of seeing it and worrying about its ups and downs. Since I’m not logged-in to Patreon on any other device apart from my laptop, now I can avoid it.”

In addition, he sells t-shirts on shop.studio71us.com/collections/colins-last-stand.

Therefore, Colin Moriarty has an estimated net worth of $1.5 million.
