Arnold Schwarzenegger is not vegan or vegetarian. “To be clear: I’m not fully vegan,” Arnold said in June 2023. “I just about eat 80% less meat than I used to.”
He relied on his meat-heavy diet during his bodybuilding days. However, since 2017, the Terminator star has leaned toward a plant-based lifestyle.
“Vegan diets tend to be higher in fiber and lower in saturated fat,” he shared in Arnold’s Pump Club newsletter. He added: “Which contributes to many benefits, such as lower LDL cholesterol, lower insulin, and feeling fuller for longer, which is an important part of eating fewer calories and losing weight.”

When Arnold wants a treat, he opts for a hamburger, a steak, or an Austrian wiener schnitzel. Schwarzenegger said:
“My friends can tell you that I grill a fantastic New York Strip.”
However, his diet consists of fruits and vegetables, lots of oats, whole eggs, protein shakes, as well as almond milk. “In the morning, after my workout, I usually have oatmeal or Greek yoghurt with granola,” he said.

“I also use my Ladder plant protein powder that’s powered by pea protein,” Schwarzenegger wrote in his newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club. “My soups, if you saw the recipe, have chickpeas. I have more and more veggie burgers with lentils and beans.”
Schwarzenegger also detailed that supplements can never substitute for a healthy diet. He wrote:

“The key thing is not to rely on the supplements as much as you rely on good food.”
