HBO’s Harry Potter series has a new Draco Malfoy and his name is Lox Pratt.
The man who played Draco for 10 years has plenty to say about that, and almost none of it is advice.
Here is what Tom Felton has said about the reboot and his successor.
Who Plays Draco In The HBO Harry Potter Series?
Lox Pratt. Johnny Flynn plays his father, Lucius.
The series retells J.K. Rowling’s books with one season per book, and HBO set the premiere for Christmas 2026.
Felton is still in the role in a way.
He plays an adult Draco on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a story set 19 years after the final book.
What Tom Felton Said About The Reboot
His first reaction was excitement.
At the Toronto International Film Festival while promoting Gandhi he told Collider he could hardly believe “the wizarding world is still going as strong as it is”.

Strangers still shout “Potter!” at him in the street.
His take: “Yes, I get that quite a bit. I always smile and find it fun”.
In April 2025, before any casting news, he told Jake’s Takes he looked forward to “meeting the young scallywag”.
The Note He Sent Lox Pratt
In March 2026, on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Felton confirmed he had “sent word” to Pratt.
His message was simple: “Here’s my phone number. Here’s my address”.
It went to Pratt’s parents as well.
He refused to coach him. “I can’t offer you advice. This is your journey,” he said.

His only tips were to have fun, take loads of pictures and follow one very Slytherin rule: “Steal as many props as you can”.
“They will be worth a fortune one day,” he added.
And if Pratt ever needs encouragement or has questions, Felton said he is there.
Why He Thinks It Will Be Harder For The New Draco

Felton said he can barely imagine to grow up on set with that kind of attention. In case you didn’t know, none of it existed when he started.
He described the set of his childhood: physical film cameras, a boom operator in his 70s rolling cigarettes with one hand, and Daniel Radcliffe and him learning Quidditch on broomsticks.

His generation was stepping into something brand new, he said.
The HBO kids step into a story that already carries a lot of weight.
What Daniel Radcliffe And Rupert Grint Did
Felton was not the first to reach out. Radcliffe wrote a letter to Dominic McLaughlin, the new Harry, and got a sweet note back.

Rupert Grint wrote to Alastair Stout, the new Ron, before filming started:
“I wrote him a letter, before they started, passing the baton as it were.”.
For me, the props line is the best part of the interview.
It is the most Draco advice imaginable, from a man who is still playing Draco on Broadway.
