Erin French Net Worth – $2 million

What is Erin French’s net worth? Who is Erin French’s husband?

Introduction

Erin French is an American chef and the owner of The Lost Kitchen, a 40-seat restaurant in Freedom, Maine.

Erin is a well-known battler who has achieved success despite numerous setbacks.

Read on to find out Erin French’s net worth, how she got her start in life, and overcame her many challenges.

The Origin Story

Erin has never publicly disclosed her birth date, but sources say she was born in 1981.

We are also not sure of the location, but we know that she spent much of her childhood in Freedom, Maine.

While Erin describes her mother as always loving and supportive, her father was supposedly a heavy drinker with an explosive temper.

According to reports from friends and family, Erin’s passion to be a chef was on display from a very early age, as she would always spend much of her free time in the family diner.

According to Erin in a People magazine report, “My whole childhood is filled with memories there.”

She describes her recollections of warm and crunchy nutmeg-laced donuts, with her memories so vivid she can still taste them.

French says that food was central to her family, as they were always surrounded by it during her childhood.

Food may have been a passion, but Erin’s desire to explore life outside of her small town led her to Northeastern University in Boston, where she would study medicine for just two years before dropping out when she was 21.

Her early departure was due to her becoming pregnant by her high school boyfriend, which also prompted the decision for her to move back to Maine.

After dropping out and getting pregnant, Erin considered herself a “gigantic failure,” and telling her parents about her pregnancy was a big deal.

However, despite the challenges of being a single mom and with her mother’s help, French returned to her earlier passion for food and started an underground supper club out of a renovated trailer when she was still in her 20s.

During these years, she honed the skills she would need to succeed with her next big dream, a proper restaurant.

Her underground efforts created a large and loyal following for her recipes, which inspired French to go full businesswoman and open her first restaurant, “The Lost Kitchen.”

While Erin’s dream was for a little out-of-the-way restaurant in the country, her next business idea turned into a much bigger vision, as it seats up to 40 guests at capacity, and it is always booked out.

The Lost Kitchen is unique as it started with an all-female crew.

As Erin describes it, it is not a chef’s kitchen; it’s a mom’s kitchen. Another unique feature is no menus. Every guest receives the same meal, and the serving starts at six.

French’s fame attracts diners from all over, which is probably the inspiration for her next business model attached to the restaurant.

According to the restaurant’s website, Erin will soon be offering guests the option of an overnight stay in a cute little cottage in a forest setting. A fantastic idea for guests who have traveled some distance that will only add to an already unforgettable dining experience.

Perhaps the most significant contributor to The Lost Kitchen’s growing fame is that Erin only uses fresh ingredients she sources from her farmer friends in the area.

She was nominated for a ‘James Beard Award’ in 2016 and has hosted celebrities like Martha Stewart.

Her restaurant became so popular and so difficult to book a table that Erin resorted to handing out postcards for a chance to win a table.

Erin runs the competition like a lottery, with proceeds going to a charity. In the first two weeks of the competition, she raised more than $300,000 for Waldo County Bounty, a grassroots hunger relief initiative.

Erin’s first vision for her business was a cozy little restaurant in the country, but her growing popularity soon made that idea untenable.

The little out-of-the-way restaurant has grown into one of the most challenging establishments to book a table, with Erin currently sending out 20,000 cards per year.

These days, Erin is donating proceeds to Maine Organic Farmers and the Maine Farmland Trust to assist farmers with PFAS contamination.
