What is Timothy Weah’s net worth?
Timothy Tarpeh Weah is an American-born professional soccer player who has a net worth of $3 million. He has served as a winger for Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Lille OSC, and the U.S. national team.
He is also the son of the President of Liberia and Ballon d’Or winner George Weah and has personally played in the Trophee des Champions twice.
Biography
Timothy Weah was born on February 22, 2000, in Brooklyn, New York, to George Weah, a former professional soccer player and 1995 FIFA World Player of the Year, and Clar Weah.
His father is originally from Liberia, and his mother is from Jamaica, but the young family had immigrated to the United States at the time.
Timothy has two siblings: George Weah Jr., who was also a professional soccer player, and a sister, Tita Weah.
Weah spent much of his childhood in the New York City area, living in both Brooklyn and on Long Island before moving to Pembroke Pines, Florida. Then, in Florida, his father began to teach him how to play soccer.
After the family moved back to New York, Timothy enrolled in the Rosedale Soccer Club, which was owned by his uncle.
Within just a few years, he was playing with BW Gottschee, and then, in 2013, he was accepted into the New York Red Bulls Academy, where his youth career took off.
At 14, he transferred again to Paris to play with the Paris Saint-Germain Academy.
In his very first appearance, he scored a hat-trick against Ludogorets Razgrad, helping PSG end the game at an unbelievable 8-1 victory.
Signs with Paris Saint-Germain
In July 2017, Weah signed his first three-year professional contract with Paris Saint-Germain at just 17 years old.
In his first year as a professional, though, he was restricted to the fourth-tier Championnat National 2 league before he was finally to the senior team in 2018.
During his first Ligue 1 performance, Weah came out as a substitute against Troyes AC, but he wouldn’t go on to score a goal until four months later against Monaco in the Trophee des Champions.
This wasn’t considered a league goal, though, since it was scored during a friendly tournament.
That honor went to his next goal, scored one week later against Caen, helping PSG win 3-0.
After his first complete season, Paris Saint-Germain put Timothy Weah on loan to Celtic.
During his time with the Scottish team, he made 13 appearances and scored 3 goals, but he was, unfortunately, unable to play in the Scottish Cup because of the Under-20 World Cup.
Moves to Lille
After completing his three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, Timothy Weah decided to stay in France and signed a five-year professional contract with the Ligue 1 team, Lille.
Unfortunately, though, he missed much of the first year due to a series of injuries that left him unable to play.
Nevertheless, he was able to score 6 goals in the 2019-2020 season during his 66 appearances.
Weah Earned His First Senior International Cap in 2018
Although Timothy Weah had competed with the US Under 15 and Under 17 national teams, it wasn’t until 2018 that he made his first appearance with the senior men’s national team.
He was then called up to the Gold Cup roster, and, although he didn’t see any playing time during the tournament, he was able to score his first senior international goal in a friendly match against Bolivia.
World Cup 2022
On November 21, 2022, Timothy scored for the USMNT at World Cup 2022 in a draw against Wales.
Personal Life
The Weah name comes with a lot of prestige. Timothy, his brother, and his father have all played as professional footballers, as has his cousin Patrick Weah.
His father has also served as the President of Liberia, so, understandably, Timothy has worked hard to avoid controversy and maintain a private persona.
Nevertheless, he’s known to enjoy music and personally produces his own soul trap albums.
Off the soccer field, he also lives up to the producer image by dressing in stylish streetwear.
Timothy is currently single and enjoys spending time with his friends, who include fellow soccer players like Tyler Adams.
