What happened to Morgan Freeman’s hand?
Many have noticed Morgan Freeman wearing gloves on his left hand at 2025 Oscars where he paid tribute to his late friend Gene Hackman following his death the month earlier.
“This week, our community lost a giant,” Freeman said. “And I lost a dear friend, Gene Hackman.”
However, it isn’t the first time Freeman’s done so.
He was wearing a golden glove on one hand at the 2022 World Cup opening ceremony in Qatar.
At the 2023 Oscars, Freeman walked out onto the stage with Australian actress Margot Robbie and sported a black glove on his left hand.
Morgan Freeman also wore a glove in his role in Paramount+’s Special Ops: Lioness.
He was seriously hurt in a car crash

In August 2008, Morgan Freeman was involved in a major accident.
His car left the road and flipped numerous times before landing in a ditch. The crash occurred at 11.30 pm on Sunday night on the Mississippi Highway, just four miles from Morgan’s ranch near Charleston, Mississippi.
Freeman and a female companion (Demaris Meyer) were cut free by emergency workers before being airlifted to a hospital.
His injuries included a broken arm and elbow, and he was reportedly hospitalised for four days.

The actor, who was 71 at the time of the accident, suffered severe nerve damage and wears a compression glove to mitigate the pain and to keep the blood flow going.
“I suffered nerve damage, and it hasn’t gotten better,” the 2005 Oscar winner said in 2010. “I can’t move it.”
“It’s the fibromyalgia,” he said in a 2012 interview. “Up and down the arm. That’s where it gets so bad. Excruciating.”
At the time of his accident, he was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima
“I’m more struck by the notion that you’re driving a nine-year-old Nissan,” Dax Shepard told Freeman while the actor was invited on Dax’s podcast, The Armchair Expert. “They put a pacemaker in me after that,” the actor also revealed.
Demaris Meyer sued Freeman

In February 2009, Meyer had sued Freeman, claiming the actor had been drinking that night at the Bayou Bend Golf and Country Club.
She sued for property damage, permanent disability, lost wages, pain and suffering, and medical expenses. Meyer also wanted to clear her name from claims that she was his mistress.
Note – at the time, Morgan was in the middle of a divorce. Freeman and his second wife had been separated since December 2007.
In November 2009, Freeman and Meyer settled the lawsuit.
