Biography
He was born on November 12, 1989, in Saransk, Russia.
Mike has an older sister, Dasha.
His mother was a mathematics professor, while his dad worked as a physician.
He emigrated to New York from Russia at the age of 6.
”My mom actually worked for $5 an hour sweeping floors, but before that, she was a math professor at one of the highest universities in Russia,” he said about his mother in October 2015.
”My father is a huge influence here,” Mike detailed. ”He was a family medicine doctor back in Russia, and when he came to the States, he followed the same path here as well.”
In 2014, Mike graduated from the New York Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in life sciences and a doctorate in osteopathic medicine via an accelerated seven-year track.

Later, Varshavski started a residency at Atlantic Health System Overlook Medical Center’s Family Medicine program.
”I became a doctor really young — at age 24 — because I did all these accelerated programs,” Varshavski told Inverse. He added: ”I worked during my summers, so I didn’t travel as often as my friends did.”
During his first year in the program, his mother died of leukemia.
In November 2015, People magazine named him “the Sexiest Doctor Alive.” He told Fox 5: ”I thought it was a joke when it first happened because I never considered myself a sexy guy.”
Also in 2015, Varshavski launched his charity, “The Limitless Tomorrow Foundation.”

On August 19, 2016, Dr. Mike started his YouTube channel. It reached 1 million subscribers on April 23, 2018.
”My goal is to reach the most amount of people possible with my medical advice,” he says.

In January 2016, Varshavski partnered with Coffee Meets Bagel for the ”Win a Date with Dr. Mike” sweepstakes. Later that year, he signed up with the digital talent agency, Artists Agency.
In 2017, Varshavski completed his family medicine residency.
