The Origin Story
Cordray was born and raised in Galveston, TX.
Little is known of his early years, but it is known that he spent all of his childhood and adolescence in Galveston, and studied at Texas A&M University.
Save 1900
Cordray was working a corporate job prior to 2016, when he decided to quit and focus on restoring properties in the Galveston area.
At that time, Cordray was renovating a single house with his wife as a labor of love; the two of them decided to make it their full-time profession, and thus founded the renovation company ‘Save 1900.’
The company is named after the 1900 Galveston hurricane – the deadliest natural disaster in US history.
Cordray has stated that the company’s mission statement is to “care about” the neglected and abandoned homes of Galveston that have long been forgotten by everybody else.
Cordray cites the history behind such homes and their resilience as the reason that he and his wife are so invested in them.
He and his wife purchase these dilapidated properties, fully renovate them, and then resell them via Save 1900.
Big Texas Fix/Restoring Galveston
In 2019, the Cordrays became the stars of a DIY show on the Magnolia Network entitled “Big Texas Fix.”
The show revolved around the couple buying up condemned, dilapidated or unsightly homes or other properties, fully renovating them, and then selling them on.
The show has four seasons.
Each episode tackles a different property, and goes from the initial purchase of the property through the renovation process and, finally, the finished product.
Though critics have had little to say about the show, it has proven popular with viewers. The show carries a 4.7 average rating on IMDB.com, from a total of 43 reviews. It may not be a critical darling, but it nevertheless has its fan base.
The show changed its name after season one, from “Big Texas Fix” to “Restoring Galveston.”
Wife
Michael Cordray is married to Ashley Cordray.
The two met when they both worked for Kirby Marine. After three years of dating, they tied the knot in 2014.
Children
The couple has three daughters named Elle, Emma, and Emory.
Elle was born in November 2019, as the couple was in the midst of filming the second season of the rechristened Restoring Galveston. Ashley recalls being induced during a break in filming, and being back on set three days after the birth of her daughter to continue work on the show.
The Cordrays’ second daughter, Emma, was born in May 2021.
The Cordrays have noted that they balance their professional lives with their personal ones, devoting all of their time not working on their renovations to their two young daughters.

Cordray earned most of his wealth from managing his real estate and restoration company as well as from his reality show.
At the time of writing, Restoring Galveston had had four seasons, with the last one finishing in June of 2022. It is unclear if the show will return for a fifth season.
In December 2022, Michael and his wife bought The Mansard House. The hotel was built in 1912, and it was designed by Louise Dowling Smith.

I am a retired nurse and now watch a lot of TV. So glad to see Michael and Ashley picked up by Magnolia and I watch every episode, including repeats. I visited Galveston a few years ago and fell in love with it.
Right now I am in a medical program for lung cancer. I don't know what my future will be but I wish Michael and Ashley the very best in their future. Those two little girls of theirs are darling.

I love watching Restoring Galveston. Michael and Ashley are so talented and smart. They interact so well with each other and have such a good sense of humor. They are really doing something worthwhile for themselves and Galveston!
