He’s also amassed a following of 3.5 million plus on YouTube.

McBride—who has parlayed his gift of the fab into an enviable career on social media—has worked as a creative advisor, rubbed shoulders with one of YouTube’s biggest superstars, and landed himself on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

There’s a lot to cover in Shaun McBride’s life—so let’s get to it.

The Origin Story

Shaun Todd McBride was born on July 7, 1987, in West Point, Utah.

Shaun comes from a big family—he has six sisters who have also come along on his journey to fame, helping him in his early days on Snapchat.

Shaun and some of his family and friends joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to do missionary service in Honduras—initially, the plan had been to stay and volunteer there for a year.

Following Hurricane Felix in September 2007, the group extended their stay and worked in disaster and humanitarian relief until the summer of 2008.

In 2009, he headed to Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, where he studied business and marketing.

The pair are both practicing LDS members, and Jenny was a part-time ultrasound technician—and now full-time mom of three.

Shaun and Jenny welcomed their first baby, a daughter named Adley, on August 6, 2015.

Next came son Niko, who was born on June 8, 2018, and finally, another daughter, Navey, who was born on August 31, 2020.

The family appears on one of Shaun’s spin-off channels, A for Adley, a kids’ channel on YouTube which follows the couple’s eldest daughter on adventures at home, around their hometown, and even further afield.

The channel had amassed 4 million subscribers by the end of 2021.

The McBride family moved into a new home in 2018, and shared it with viewers and fans in a House Tour video that year.

They were accompanied on the house tour by their two dogs, and daughter Adley.

The Snapchat Era

Shaun ventured into the world of Snapchat in 2014.

The social media platform was in its infancy, and McBride used it to share his drawings and showcase life as a newlywed.

He sent his Snapchat snaps to friends and family.

His sisters really liked one of his Snaps—a doodle of an elderly woman morphing into a My Little Pony caricature—and they sent it to their friends.

Things snowballed from there: his sisters’ friends added him, and shared his content with other friends and family.

Before long, his audience had grown beyond his control, and by 2015 he had more than a million followers on the social media platform.

Accolades & Awards

Some of his content on Snapchat showcased McBride’s travel adventures as his following—and income from advertising on the platform—grew: he helicoptered over Alaskan glaciers, went backstage at the Austin City Limits music festival, and went to Disneyland and Disney World.

He also walked a tiger and rode elephants in Thailand—activities that drew criticism due to the poor treatment of elephants and tigers in the tourism industry.

Shaun’s following also bonded with the engaging creator through videos of him skateboarding with friends, sitting around at airports, and going to the dentist.

Thanks to his positivity and enthusiasm for life, each video was entertaining.

McBride signed with GrapeStory, a major talent agency, and was nominated for Shorty Awards—Best Snapchatter—and Streamy Awards—Best Snapchat Storyteller and Best Short Form Creativity.

He won the Best Snapchat Storyteller award two years running, and Snapchatter of the Year in 2016.

Next came collaborations with Disney, AT&T, Taco Bell, Red Bull, and Google.

As Snapchat went into decline, the savvy entrepreneur shifted his focus towards YouTube.

He has since collaborated with YouTube influencer giant, Casey Neistat—who has more than 3 billion views on the video streaming platform.
