She was a football fanatic,” her father said in an interview. “But when she wasn’t playing football, she was watching football.

In 1982, Suzy graduated from Pennsylvania’s Upper Dublin High School. During high school, Kolber played tennis and basketball and ran track.

In 1986, she graduated the Miami University with a Telecommunications Bachelor of Arts degree.

From 1985 to 1989, Suzy worked at WTVJ-TV in Miami.

ESPN2 hired Kolber in 1993. She joined the company as co-host of SportsNight.

“The mission was to expand the sideline role,” Kolber revealed.

In November 1996, she left ESPN for Fox Sports.

In 1999, Kolber returned to ESPN. 

In 2001, Suzy started on the Sunday Night sidelines.

In 2006, she was the recipient of the Broadcaster of the Year Award from the Maxwell Football Club’s Sports. In the same year, Suzy worked the sidelines for ABC Sports’ broadcast of Super Bowl XL in Detroit.

On December 20, 2003, during the New York Jets game against the New England Patriots, a clearly drunk Joe Namath told Suzy he wanted to kiss her. 

Namath called Kolber days later to apologize and admitted that he was drunk during the interview.

“I saw it as a blessing in disguise,” Namath wrote in his book, “All the Way: My Life in Four Quarters.” 

“He didn’t have another drink after that,” Suzy said in a later interview. “He got his life together.”

“Everybody wanted to interview me after that, and I said I would never talk about this because I didn’t want to be the story,” she said in 2022.
