Amy Trask, also known as The Princess of Darkness, is an American sports executive, lawyer, and author, who is best known as the former CEO of the Oakland Raiders.

Biography

She was born on April 26, 1961, in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Her father was an aerospace engineer, while her mother was an educator. ”I did not grow up in a family of avid football fans,” she told SI.

In 1982, Trask earned a degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.

”I fell in love with the game of football in junior high school and, while an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, with the Raiders when the team was in Oakland,” Amy said in a 2017 interview.

Later, she received a J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

While attending law school, Amy interned for the Oakland Raiders. In the same year, the Oakland Raiders moved to Los Angeles.

Amy steadily rose through the Raiders’ ranks, eventually becoming CEO in 1997. She represented the Raiders at league meetings and managed everything from stadium rights to sponsorships. Basically, Trask was in charge of all non-football operations for the Raiders.

”She’s a very strong person,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said about Amy. He added: ”She has strong beliefs, and she is not afraid to express them.”

”She’s a very intelligent lady,” Mike White described her.

White coached the Raiders from 1995 to 1996. He also said: ”And because of those reasons, she was given a lot of responsibility.”

When Al Davis (the principal owner and general manager of the Oakland Raiders) died in October 2011, Trask’s career began to change. ”I think about him all the time,” Amy said in a later interview about Davis. She continued: ”I’ll think of him in a variety of contexts.”

Trask resigned from the Raiders in 2013. ”I’ve had discussions with other organizations who have contacted me since I left, but to me, being a Raider wasn’t spongeable,” she said. Amy added: ”I was a Raider.”

Soon after she left her CEO position at the Raiders, Trask landed a contract as an analyst for CBS. ”Joining CBS Sports, I faced my biggest fear,” Amy stated at the time. Trask went on to say: ”My biggest fear, and this goes back my entire life to the time I was a little kid, is a fear of being on camera.”

She was awarded the WISE Woman of the Year Award by Women in Sports and Events in 2017.

In 2016, Trask published her memoir, ”You Negotiate Like a Girl.” In the book, Amy details how she found success as an NFL team executive. Michael Freeman co-authored the book.

When asked about the reason she wrote her memoir, Amy confessed: ”It strikes me that there should be a profound answer, but I don’t have one.” Trask added: ”It struck me that it would be an exciting adventure, and that’s exactly what it was.”

Amy Trask is married to Rob. The two met while Amy was in law school. They don’t have any children.
