Introduction
Let’s face it: in a world where influencers, reality TV stars, and YouTubers are seen by younger audiences as celebrities in Hollywood, the demand for said influencers is growing every single day.
Many of these online stars are highly sought after by businesses, big and small alike, to endorse all manner of different products.
Whether it’s food, drink, clothing, gadgets, or anything else, individuals with a strong online presence and who are well-known by the general public are incredibly powerful marketing tools to have at your disposal.
It isn’t just businesses that can benefit from these individuals either; charitable organizations and hospitals can also benefit and help leverage the popularity of these individuals to raise some much-needed funds.
That is exactly what Shriners Children’s Hospital has done with Alec and Kaleb; the results have been very promising.
Kaleb and Alec are synonymous with Shriners and have appeared in a lot of marketing and advertising campaigns for them and a lot of commercials.
But do Alec and Kaleb get paid for commercials? Well, let’s take a look, shall we?
Who are Shriners Hospitals for Children?
Before we begin taking a look at Alec and Kaleb and how they’ve helped raise millions of dollars for such great causes, let’s look at the organization most commonly associated with the pair – Shriners.
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a series of non-profit hospitals and medical facilities for children that are located all across the United States of America.
Their current tagline is ‘Love to the Rescue.’
The hospital provides care for children up until the age of 18, or in special circumstances, this number can be extended, and they may provide care for children and young adults aged up to 21 years of age.
The medical facilities specialize in providing care for children suffering from burns, spinal issues and injuries, orthopedic conditions, cleft lips and palates, and a few other potential medical issues.
The hospitals are owned and operated by Shriners International and have their headquarters in Florida, in the city of Tampa.
Shriners International was formerly known as the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, who referred to their members as ‘Shriners.’
Patients, however, are not required to have any familiarity or affiliation with the Shriners.
Who is Alec Cabacungan?
Alec Cabacungan is a young man who, for the last several years, has, along with Kaleb, been a spokesman, advertiser, and ambassador for Shriners Children’s Hospital, or Shriners Children’s Chicago.
Alec is one of the bravest young men you will ever meet and has helped raise awareness for all manner of health issues plaguing children and young adults, not to mention raising millions of dollars for the organization to help them continue doing what they are doing.
Cabacungan was born with OI (Osteogenesis Imperfecta), a form of brittle bone disease that is caused by a lack of collagen in the bones.
This causes the bones to become thin, weak, frail, and brittle, meaning that they break very easily.
Needless to say, this seriously affected his growth and development, which is why Shriners took him in and provided care for him since he was just two months of age.
He has, therefore, been under their care for the best part of two decades.
Shriners provided the best possible care for him and have seen him through countless operations.
Despite more than 60 bone breakages and numerous doctor’s appointments, surgeries, operations, consultations, and much more besides, Alec has been able to study at Northwestern University, where he majored in Sports Broadcasting, which is a real passion of his.
Alec, along with Kaleb, has become an inspiration for many and one of the most popular social media influencers out there, with millions of followers across popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Because of his story and his followers and online presence, he has also become a hugely successful marketer and advertiser, but do Alec and Kaleb get paid for commercials? We’ll get to that shortly.
Who is Kaleb?
Well, we’ve learned about one of Shriner’s two most famous ambassadors, so now it’s time to learn about the second.
Kaleb has been a Shriner’s patient since he was just one week old. He was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, has broken over 200 bones, and has undergone more than 10 surgeries.
Kaleb’s condition affects his mobility more so than Alec’s, which means that he has to use a wheelchair for mobility.
He is a fighter, however, and has the heart of a warrior, and doesn’t let his disabilities or his condition define him.
He is so strong, in fact, that he has even begun learning to stand and walk by himself without the use of his wheelchair.
Are Alec & Kaleb making big bucks from advertising for Shriners?
Okay, so now that we know who Kaleb and Alec are and what they are most famous for, let’s look at whether they get paid for commercials. Alec Cabacungan has a net worth of $500,000, while Kaleb’s net worth is a little higher. This is largely due to their marketing and advertising deals. As you may have guessed then, yes, they do get paid for commercials. And they are paid pretty well.
Both Alec and Kaleb have partnered up with some of the biggest brands in the world today, including Nike, Pepsi, and McDonald’s. Because they are so inspirational and because they have such a huge celebrity following and online presence, the two are very highly sought after in the world of marketing and advertising.
On top of advertising products for big brand names, however, they have also appeared in commercials for numerous charities, as well as Shriners, of course.
How much Alec and Kaleb were paid is not known, but based on their following, their net worth, and their status, we can assume that it was a tidy sum. And do you know what? Good luck to them.

Money, money, money. What other means of earnings have these two have. Any physical jobs are out. When Shroners aged them out, then what? Who pays for their needs. Make as much as possible now for the future. Support both with positive encouragement.

IF Shriners thinks that these "influencers" are effective they are RIGHT!! They influence my wife to scream "mute that disgusting annoying whining commercial". Money could be much better spent IN THE HOSPITALS rather than on TV

@RonS, I don't care for the commercials either, but I don't post such cruel comments on public forums.

It's ok for Alec and Kaleb to get paid for commercials for Coke or Pepsi or any other business, BUT NOT SHRINER'S HOSPITAL! I wonder how many people that donate to SHRINER'S HOSPITAL know this?

@Peter, I hope you are supporting a person or persons that directly with your personal funds to bypass Shriners decisions to raise support through media. Commitment is realized through action, not just philosophy.

@Peter, How about all of the free medical care they receive(d) from Shriner's Hopitals? Does that not make up for any monetary compensation?
