As a British stage and TV actor, Charles Edwards has earned most of his money from the various roles he has held throughout his career.

His career started in the nineties, and he landed his first role on stage when he was 24 when he appeared in a production of Blithe Spirit.

Since debuting on the stage, he has appeared in numerous other productions, including The Apple Cart, Private Lives, Hay Fever, and The Duchess of Malfi.

By 2005, he was a well-known stage actor and received acclaim for his debut on Broadway, where he featured in 39 Steps. He was a constant feature of both UK and US versions of the play, which ran for three years in London and New York.

In many respects, Edwards is a classical actor, and he has appeared in numerous Shakespearean plays throughout his career.

As a result of his many roles and variety of performances, Edwards has developed a reputation as one of the finest theatre actors of his age.

However, his exploits in entertainment are not restricted to the stage. Edwards has also played lots of roles in popular TV shows since the early 2000s.

One of his earliest TV roles came in 2002 when he played King Edward in the ITV drama Bertie and Elizabeth.

His most notable role in TV came when he joined the third season of Downton Abbey, one of the UK’s most popular and best-loved TV dramas. He played the role of Michael Gregson, a wealthy editor who fell in love with one of the show’s main characters.

The show has a cult-like following in the UK and was exceptionally popular on the BBC before it arrived on Netflix, which of course, brought it to the attention of global audiences.

Talking about Downtown Abbey, Edwards said: “The first scenes that I shot were just Laura (co-star Laura Carmichael) in an office in London, and so I have been lowered into the pool quite gingerly, but in this season, I’m immersed slightly more.”

He was referring to his character’s love affair with Carmichael’s character, which was the main plot throughout the third season that gripped millions of viewers.

Following his success on Downton Abbey, Edwards was an extremely popular British TV icon, and he has credits on Mansfield Park, Sherlock, and The Crown.

Featuring on Netflix, The Crown is another British period drama, this time focusing on the life and times surrounding the British Royal family. Edwards is undoubtedly suited to these classical British roles; such is the way that he carries himself on screen.

Edwards has also held small roles in several films, with perhaps his biggest movie credit coming thanks to his appearance in Batman Begins.

He is also among the cast of the new The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power, within which he plays Celebrimbor (meaning silver fist).

Therefore, British actor Charles Edwards has an estimated net worth of $2.5 million.
