Charlie Sheen is an American actor who is best known for his roles in Two and a Half Men, Major League, Platoon, and Anger Management.

He was born on September 3, 1965, in New York City, as Carlos Irwin Estévez, to Janet Templeton and actor Martin Sheen.

Charlie has three siblings: sister Renée Estévez, and brothers Emilio and Ramon Estévez.

In 1986, he played a stoner in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. In the same year, Sheen played Chris Taylor in Platoon.

In 1990, Sheen performed in the film Cadence alongside his dad and brother.

In 1999, he starred in the Spike Jonze film ”Being John Malkovich.”

In 2000, Charlie was cast in the television series Spin City.

Two and a Half Men

In 2003, he was cast in the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men. In March 2011, Sheen was fired from his starring role after badmouthing his boss on The Alex Jones Show.

He sued Warner Bros. for $100 million after he got fired, and received about $25 million to settle the dispute.

He was replaced by Ashton Kutcher on Two and a Half Men.

In March 2011, he signed on with Los Angeles-based startup Ad.ly.

From 2012 to 2014, the “Platoon” star starred in FX’s “Anger Management.” The series ended after its 100th episode.

In 2015, Charlie Sheen revealed that he’s HIV positive. The actor said that he discovered that he was HIV positive in 2011. He also had paid “upwards of $10 million” to settle with people who threatened to publicly reveal his condition.

Sheen told Strahan he quit alcohol in 2017.

Wife

On September 3, 1995, Charlie Sheen married his first wife, model Donna Peele, in Malibu, California. The two first met while filming a commercial for Parliament cigarettes.

“She’s my best friend, and we’ve both found our soul mates,” he said,

They divorced within six months in early 1996.

”When all was said and done, Donna was an angel with how she handled everything.” Sheen wrote in his memoir.

Marriage to Denise Richards

On June 15, 2002, Charlie Sheen married actress Denise Richards. They first met on the set of the independent film Good Advice in 2000. Sheen and Richards had their first date on October 4, 2001.

On March 9, 2004, their first daughter, Sami, was born. It was followed by the second daughter, Lola Rose, on June 1, 2005.

In March 2005, Denise filed for divorce when she was six months pregnant with Lola. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.

Their status as a married couple ended in 2006.

“I went through so much with my divorce from Charlie that it affected my career,” Richards revealed in 2025 during an appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast.

Richards later remarried to Aaron Phypers.

Third Marriage

On March 31, 2008, Sheen married real estate investor Brooke Mueller. The pair became engaged in the summer of 2007. They were introduced by their mutual friend Rebecca Gayheart.

The couple signed a prenuptial agreement.

Their twin sons, Bob and Max, were born in 2009.

Charlie and Brooke separated on December 25, 2009. On the same day, he was arrested for assaulting Mueller.

Their divorce was finalized in 2011.

Life With ‘Goddesses’ Is ‘Perfect’

For a while, Charlie Sheen lived with two women whom he calls his “goddesses”: Rachel Oberlin and Natalie Kenly.

”These are the women that I love that have completed the three parts of my heart,” he said.

In September 2025, Sheen said that he had been celibate since he got sober in 2017.

“If I don’t have a girlfriend, and I’m not paying for it, then I think the math is pretty simple,” Sheen explained.

In December 2025, Mueller claimed Sheen owes her $15.3 million in child support and wants it paid within a month. She also claimed that the actor was ordered to pay her $55K per month in child support in April 2010, but stopped paying in full in 2011.
