Introduction

David Adefeso is a Nigerian-born businessman and Chief Executive Officer of ‘The Pacific Group.’

His story of success is an immigrant story that can be echoed and felt by many others.

The Origin Story

Adefeso was born on November 23, 1969, in Nigeria.

He spent all of his childhood and early adulthood in Nigeria before flying to New York City at the age of 21.

He flew from Lagos to New York with $250 cash on him, no job waiting for him, and no place for him to live.

Still, he has remained in the USA since then.

Migrating to the USA without a job or money required a lot of determination and hard work.

At the age of 22, he passed all four parts of the CPA exam.

For a time, he worked as an accountant in L.A., where he got to audit reviews and financial statements for both corporate and governmental clients.

This gave him skills and knowledge on how to provide accurate financial consulting.

His work in L.A. did not last long, and he soon started a new journey when he enrolled for an MBA at Harvard Business School, where he was one of the youngest MBA students to ever walk the halls of the prestigious school.

He graduated in 1996, and he soon went on to start his career on Wall Street.

This was only five years after he had landed in New York City.

His work on Wall Street allowed him to work with global conglomerates, which included investment bankers for Salomon Brothers and Wasserstein Perella.

Soon this work and the connections he was making enabled him to achieve many of his dreams and goals.

At the age of 32, he became a multi-millionaire.

His next career move came in 2002 when he moved to the Pacific group, which is a real estate development and investment company based in Los Angeles and Fort Worth, Texas.

Currently, Adefeso has climbed up the ladder and does not only work as a financial consultant within the group, but he is also the CEO of the Pacific Group.

While his career had truly taken off, it did not take long for Adefeso to set his sight on an entirely new venture.

In 2017, while at a party, he met a bright young woman and her father.

That encounter would not only change his life but the lives of many others.

During the encounter, his conversation with the young woman led him to realize how deep the student loan crisis in the United States actually runs.

The woman was describing her dreams and aspirations and how far away those felt because of her $120K student loan debt.

For Adefeso, it was a shocking realization that so many aspiring and talented people in the States were tied down by their student loans.

Adefeso, who is, after all, an entrepreneur at heart, sought to find a solution.

His solution came in the form of a website and service called Sootchy.com.

This technology venture can provide the tools both for prospective students and their parents on how to financially plan for their children’s education without forcing their children into a life of immense student loan debts.

Adefeso was so passionate about this project that he invested his own money and used it to hire a team of software engineers that could make his technology venture a reality.

The website officially launched in 2019, and it is Adefeso’s wish that through this venture, he will be able to make education more accessible to the masses without forcing people into a life of student loan debts.

This work is both fulfilling to him, and it is work that he hopes will bring benefits to the wider world.

In 2021, Sootchy App partnered with Capital City Lighthouse Charter School.

Wife/Girlfriend

While his professional life and his philanthropic work are both well documented, there is perhaps one aspect of his life that is even more well known, and that is his tumultuous relationship with tv personality and host Tamar Braxton (ex-wife of Vincent Herbert).

The relationship that started in 2018 seemed to be a perfect relationship for a time, with Braxton often gushing on set and on television about her self-made amazing boyfriend.

Since then, the relationship seems to have come tumbling down as Adefeso has sought a restraining order against his now ex-girlfriend.

Since the public break-up, there has been no further information about any new women that have entered Adefeso’s life, so it is safe to say that for now, he remains single.
