He was born on April 6, 2001, in Melbourne, Australia, as Oscar Jack Piastri, to Nicole (née MacFadyen) and Chris Piastri.
“I’m the first one in my family to race as a career,” he told Esquire. “My mum’s dad and my dad’s dad were mechanics, my dad’s business is in the car industry and we would always watch motorsport.”
At age 10, he transitioned from remote-controlled car racing to karting.
In 2015, Piastri expanded his horizons by participating in European and CIK-FIA-sanctioned karting events with Ricky Flynn Motorsport.
