Priscilla Renea, creatively known as Muni Long, is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and piano player, who co-wrote Selena Gomez’s “Who Says,” Carrie Underwood’s “Somethin’ Bad,” Fifth Harmony’s “Worth It,” Pitbull and Kesha’s “Timber,” and Rihanna’s “California King Bed.”


She was born on September 14, 1988, in Origin Vero Beach, Florida, as Priscilla Renea Hamilton.

Renea was raised in Gifford, Florida. 

While growing up, Priscilla was surrounded by music.

“My mother sang Minnie Riperton whistle notes around the house all the time,” Priscilla said. “My father played the trumpet.” 

At age 8, Renea started writing songs. “It happened one day while I was vacuuming the hallway,” she told Refinery29.

Priscilla went to Vero Beach High School.

In 2009, Priscilla signed with Capitol Records.

In the same year, Renea released her debut single, titled – “Dollhouse.” It was produced by Lil’ Ronnie and Benny Blanco.

In 2010, Renea moved to Los Angeles.

At age 23, she was diagnosed with lupus, a long-term condition that causes tiredness, skin rashes, and joint pain.

In 2012, Priscilla co-wrote the single “Don’t Wake Me Up” for Chris Brown.

In May 2018, she released the song “Family Tree.” The song was inspired by Priscilla’s experience of being expelled from her family’s home as a teenager.

On June 22, 2018, Renea released her second album, titled – “Coloured,” through Thirty Tigers.

In October 2020, she released the track “Midnight Snack,” featuring singer/actor Jacob Latimore. “I take elements from things I love and put them into a gumbo,” Renea revealed about the song.

In November 2021, Long released the EP “Public Displays of Affection.”

The song — “Hrs and Hrs” reached #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on Urban and Rhythm radio.

“Hrs and Hrs” blew up because of TikTok. “It’s an incredible full-circle moment,” Muni said.

Renea got the idea for the track one night when she was washing dishes. 

“I don’t think anybody in the music business thought or expected that a song could blow up this fast, and we’re independent,” Muni said in an interview in early 2022. “I’m not assigned to a major label, so it’s really like historic.”

Signs A Record Deal With Def Jam Recordings

In March 2022, she inked a deal with Def Jam Recordings.

“We look forward to an incredible journey with Tunji and the Def Jam family,” Muni confessed at the time.

On September 23, 2022, her album, Public Displays of Affection: The Album, was released via Def Jam, MPR Global, and Supergiant.

“I’m so happy to finally be able to give you this full project,” Long said on Instagram.

When the two first met in a Taco restaurant, Masimba was with two girls, and she “thought he was disgusting.”

“I went on maybe five dates my whole life,” Priscilla revealed to Yahoo in April 2022. She added: “I hated all of them.”
