Tony Massarotti is an American author, newspaper sportswriter, and co-host of the sports talk radio show on WBZ-FM with Michael Felger.
He was born on October 28, 1967, in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA.
Massarotti went to Waltham High School. He majored in English and Classics from Tufts University in 1989.
From 1994 to 2008, he worked for the Boston Herald. There, Massarotti covered the Boston Red Sox.
Tony joined the staff of the Boston Globe in September 2008.
”The Herald was great to me and I miss many of the people there on a personal level, though I still keep in touch with some,” he said during an interview with Over The Monster.

In 2005, Massarotti and John Harper released a book titled – ”A Tale of Two Cities: The 2004 Yankees-Red Sox Rivalry and the War for the Pennant.” In the book, they detailed Red Sox and the Yankees in parallel storylines through the summer of 2004.
In 2007, he co-authored another book, called – ”Big Papi: My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits” with David Ortiz.
In 2008, Tony received the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Sportswriter of the Year award.
In the same year, he published the book – ”Dynasty: The Inside Story of How the Red Sox Became a Baseball Powerhouse.” In the book, Massarotti described how the Red Sox became the most successful franchise in baseball.
Michael Felger and Tony launched their top-rated show on The Sports Hub when the station debuted. The show first aired on August 13, 2009. It features a simulcast TV show that airs on NBC Sports Boston.
In 2011, Massarotti served as a contributor to Tim Wakefield’s book – ”Knuckler: My Life with Baseball’s Most Confounding Pitch.”
Massarotti left the Boston Globe in March 2013. At the start of 2014, he began to write for the Globe’s online sports blog.
In January 2015, it was announced that Massarotti and Felger have signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with Boston’s sports radio station.

Suspended for a week
In February 2023, he was suspended without pay by Beasley Media due to a comment he made. The incident happened late in Friday’s show.
Tony apologized early in Monday’s show. “I wish I could take them back,” Massarotti said. “I can’t.”
