Husband & The Murder Of Alexi Sharkey

Sharkey met her husband and killer, Tom Sharkey, in 2018 when she moved from Texas to Florida.

Tom Sharkey was a native Floridian and a bodybuilder.

He was extremely active on Facebook, where he would often post very socially conservative takes on current affairs.

Friends of Sharkey frequently alleged that her husband was abusive, and police believe that she intended to file for divorce from him due to this abusive behavior.

Tom Sharkey himself vehemently denied all allegations of spousal abuse up until his death.

Sharkey went missing on the evening of November 27th, 2020.

She had reportedly quarreled with her husband just prior to her disappearance.

Friends noted that Sharkey, who was usually always on her phone, stopped responding to calls and messages.

Sharkey’s husband quickly took to social media, where he feigned ignorance regarding his wife’s whereabouts and lamented the fact that he was reportedly receiving death threats.

He also thanked Sharkey’s Instagram followers for purportedly assisting in the investigation.

Sharkey’s body was found on the evening of November 28th.

She was nude with no trauma to the body, and police observed that there was no evidence she had walked to where she was found; further, there had been no apparent attempt to conceal her body, as it was easily discovered by public works employers. Later, investigators ruled Alexis Sharkey’s death as a homicide by strangulation.

Tom Sharkey was reportedly untruthful and evasive with detectives from the onset of the investigation, failing to present himself for questioning and DNA testing.

He also failed to make funeral arrangements for his wife; this task fell to Sharkey’s mother, who arranged a small private funeral and did not inform her daughter’s husband. More than 26k was raised for funeral costs through a GoFundMe account.

In September 2021, police issued a warrant for Tom Sharkey’s arrest in connection with the murder of Alexis Sharkey.

They rapidly tracked Tom Sharkey to his daughter’s residence in Fort Myers.

When he learned that police were coming to arrest him, Tom Sharkey fled to an upstairs bedroom and shot himself in the head before an arrest could be effected.

“I’m just sorry for all of that,” Alexis’ mother, Stacey Robinault, said when she heard of Tom’s suicide. “It’s been a horrific year.”

One possible motive for why Tom killed his wife could be that there was a separation. Alexis wanted to split, while Tom wished to reconcile.

Personal Life

Sharkey left no children behind and was survived by her parents and two sisters.
