He was born on September 2, 1987, in Mendon, New York, USA, as Andrew Douglas Rea, to parents Annie and Douglas Rea.
Rea is of Italian, Polish, and Welsh descent.
He has an elder brother, David Rea.
His love of cooking stems from his mother, who died when he was just 11 years old.
”I was 11, so I didn’t get the chance to really get into anything too complicated, but she taught me how to make cookies and stew,” said Andrew.

Andrew also does “Basics with Babish,” a series on his YouTube channel where he breaks down the skills that will enhance your culinary repertoire.
”My ultimate goal is to be on the cutting edge of how cooking shows are made and consumed, and your support is helping me get there,” he says.
In 2017, he said for Premium Beat: ”I started the channel almost by accident – I had bought a camera and a light to do some freelance interview work, and decided to experiment with food photography.”

First Book
In October 2017, Rea released the book ”Eat What You Watch: A Cookbook for Movie Lovers.”
The book is a collection of his recipes from various movies as well as personal notes on each recipe. Some of the iconic food scenes Andrew has recreated include – the redemptive birthday cake from Sixteen Candles, the deli fare from When Harry Met Sally, and Charlie Chaplin’s dancing dinner rolls in The Gold Rush.
In July 2019, Andrew appeared on the web series ”Hot Ones” with Sean Evans.
In October 2019, Rea released his second book, titled – ”Binging with Babish: 100 Recipes Recreated from Your Favorite Movies and TV Shows.” The recipes are relatively easy to learn since Binging With Babish’s host presents the recipes in an easily digestible form.

On September 24, 2020, Andrew introduced a new series on his YouTube channel, called – ”Stump Sohla.” It is hosted by Sohla El-Waylly. In June 2020, Sohla called for former Bon Appétit editor-in-chief Adam Rapoport to step down due to a photo that resurfaced online and sparked criticism.

Wife
Andrew Rea married in 2014.
Rea didn’t disclose the name of his wife.
”We’re hitting two years this May, but we’ve actually been together 12 years as of next weekend! We’re high school sweethearts,” Andrew explained about his marriage in a Reddit AMA.
