She was born on June 5th, 1987, in Maywood, Illinois, U.S.A., and was raised alongside her three siblings, Neosha, Farrah, and twin Felisha.

Things took a turn in 2006 when King was contacted by the makers of “The Powerpuff Girls Movie,” a feature film by Warner bros. Pictures.

They requested that the group produce lyrics for the film soundtrack, and of course, King accepted.

This deal put their name back on the music radar, propelling their following projects.

That same year, they released “Do It To It” ft. Sean Paul. The single was released through Free The Lyrics, Sho’nuff, and Capitol records.

This was a significant accomplishment and game-changer, considering they partnered with Jamaican-American rapper Sean Paul, who helped promote the group.

The song peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 15 on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart, and No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart. This single was King’s first entry as an artist on the Billboard Hot 100.

Debut Album

King and her sisters released their debut album, Unappreciated, on August 15th, 2006, through Capital Records.

The 12-track album peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold by the R.I.A.A. 

Following the success of her album and the elevation of her brand as a talented singer/songwriter, she was offered opportunities to co-write with some of America’s top-ranked artists.

Following a busy schedule consisting of global tours and performing opening acts for artists such as Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, and Lil Wayne, King, and her sisters were back in the studio working on their second debut album.

On November 27th, 2007, the new single “Killa” ft. Yung Joc.

The corresponding music video premiered on December 12th at B.E.T.’s Access Granted. It featured scenes of the American dance film “Step Up 2: The Streets.” The single peaked at No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Truth

King’s follow-up album was released on May 13th, 2008. The Truth was their second album and peaked at No. 40 on the Billboard Top 200. “Amnesia” was the second single released from the album and peaked at No. 100 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

The follow-up music video was uploaded to YouTube and garnered over 5 million views.

In 2008, King decided she wanted to temporarily leave the band to make music with her sister Felisha.

They agreed on the name F+F, but nothing came of it. In 2010, King reconnected with her other sisters, and they recorded the single “The Voices Beyond,” a tribute to the Haitian disasters. From this point, they recorded a few music videos but nothing significant enough to keep the group relevant.

In 2011, King and her sister Felisha partnered to record the single “Like That,” which was featured in the 2011 film S.W.A.T.: Firefight and on the film’s soundtrack. King and her sisters released the single together, “One Time,” on February 24th, 2017, which was set to be a part of their third studio album. The single failed to peak on any charts and essentially flopped.

From this point, King worked on small projects but nothing of significance. The single “Do It To It” was remixed in 2021 by Charlie Duncker, reestablishing the group’s name. Despite this, they have yet to publicly state if they have plans to produce more music as a group.
