Downe was in a high school band called The Bondage Boys in Seattle.

In 1985, Downe formed the band “Faster Pussycat” with bassist Kelly Nickels and guitarists Greg Steele and Brent Muscat.
The band was named after the cult Russ Meyer film Faster, Pussycat, Kill, Kill!
In December 1986, Faster Pussycat signed with Elektra Records.
On July 7, 1987, Faster Pussycat released their self-entitled album. It reached number 97 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Also in 1987, the band appeared in the Rockumentary film, The Decline of Western Civilization part 2 – The Metal Years.
The rock band hit their commercial peak with the 1989 sophomore album “Wake Me Up When It’s Over.” The album became wildly popular with the hit single House of Pain, which reached No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Wake Me Up When It’s Over” sold over 500,000 copies.
In 1992, Faster Pussycat would release the album ”Whipped” via Elektra Records. The track “Mr. Lovedog” was a tribute to singer Andrew Wood who passed away in 1990.
”Whipped” reached #35 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock track chart.
In 1993, Faster Pussycat broke up.
In 1995, Downe sang backing vocals on Skid Row’s cover of the Ramones’ “Psycho Therapy.”
For a while, Taime was part of the industrial rock supergroup, Pigface.
