He played golf for the college team but felt “stifled,” he continued working on his social media content but didn’t see the growth he had in high school.
He lacked direction, and he needed a change.
During the summer of 2019, Garrett made a commitment to create better content and really give YouTube a go.
The effort paid off, and by September 2019, he had racked up more than 150,000 new subscribers and millions of views.
He made a deal with his dad: if he could earn $60,000 that summer, he could drop out of college.
“It was World War III,” said Clark’s dad later, acknowledging that he didn’t think “an 18 year old kid sitting on the couch playing the computer” was a real job.
Garrett made that $60k within weeks, and college was history.
