He was born in 1975 in Queens, New York, USA. Higgins is of Irish descent.
From age 9, Matt was raised by a single mother.
During his youth, he sold flowers on NYC street corners, “earning $3.75 an hour.”
At age 16, Matt dropped out of high school, got his GED, and enrolled in Queens College.
”Dropping out of high school was probably the single most important decision I made to send my career on its trajectory,” Higgins said in a later interview.
After graduating from Queens College with a political science degree, he worked as a press secretary for Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Higgins said: ”That was an amazing opportunity for me that ultimately led me to working with the New York Jets.”
In 2002, Higgins earned his law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
New York Jets
From 2004 to 2012, Matt worked for the New York Jets. He told New York Jets‘ business staff: ”I’m really proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish over the last eight years.”
”The New York Jets are big, they’re in the public domain, but at the end of the day, it’s not life and death,” Matt also said.

RSE
In 2012, Higgins and Stephen Ross co-founded RSE. ”[RSE] supplies whatever entrepreneurs need to go the rest of the distance, whether that is capital or real estate advice,” Matt explained.
RSE has invested in the Drone Racing League (professional drone racing league), café business Bluestone Lane, culinary brand Momofuku, restaurant reservation app Resy, and Milk Bar.
In 2014, RSE Ventures partnered with Belarusian-American entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk to form VaynerRSE.
RSE bought cybersecurity company SkOUT Secure Intelligence in 2018.

In 2018, Matt made his debut as a guest shark on the ABC reality show “Shark Tank” — a business-themed reality series that allows young entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to established businessmen (sharks). Higgins was part of a five-Shark investment.
”I had never been on TV, I had no public profile, and I knew nothing about the inner workings of Hollywood,” he addressed Queens College Commencement in 2019.
In 2019, Matt received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. In the same year, Higgins made a guest appearance on the series ”Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”
In November 2020, Higgins became CEO and Chairman of Omnichannel Acquisition Corp, a blank check company targeting retail businesses and omnichannel consumers as well as asset acquisition and capital stock exchange. According to Nasdaq.com, the company will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “OCA.U” beginning on November 20, 2020.
