He is known to many parents as “the annoying British man in the corner.”

He was born on December 13, 1990, in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England, as Joseph Mark Garrett.

His sister, Netty Plays–real name–Annette Littlewood (née Garrett), is also a content creator on YouTube whose videos usually consist of Let’s Play videos and vlogs.

Joseph has another sister, Rachael, who is a graphics artist.

I started making YouTube videos basically because I watched a lot of them, and I thought that is something that I’d like to do,” Stampy recalled in 2021. “I like making videos, I like playing video games, I’ve also done a student radio show at uni, I like speaking into microphones, and I thought that I might as well combine them all together and just sort of contributing my little bit to YouTube.”

In July 2011, Garrett created his second YouTube channel and started doing Let’s Play videos of Minecraft. It has been described as being a cross between Mr Rogers and Pee-Wee Herman.

In March 2013, Stampy and iBallisticSquid (real name – David Spencer) created a channel titled – “MagicAnimalClub,” where Joseph and Spencer upload the Magic Animal Club Podcast.

In 2014, he inked a deal with Disney-owned Maker Studios to produce an edutainment children’s web series called – “Wonder Quest.”

“Maker’s production talent and leadership will create exciting new opportunities,” Bob Iger, Disney Chairman and Chief Executive, said at the time.

“It’s a completely scripted show, and the production values are much higher,” Joseph said.

In June 2015, Stampy was featured in the premiere episode of Disney XD’s comedy series Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything.

On October 22, 2015, Garrett released the book – “Stampy’s Lovely Book.”

On July 18, 2016, Stampy published another book, titled – “Stick with Stampy!”
