When Bob was ten, his father abandoned the family and moved to California. ”My dad left when I was 10,” Seger remembered. He continued: ”We moved to Sheehan Street, and that’s where I went to high school.”
In 1963, he graduated from Pioneer High School.
At age 16, Bob formed his first band in Detroit, The Decibels. The band also included H.B. Hunter on drums and Pete Stanger on guitar.
”My goal when I was 20 was to make enough money,” Seger recalled in February 2015 in an interview with San Diego Union-Tribune, ”so that, when I was 25, I could buy a motorcycle and drive across Europe.”
