Carl Marino Net Worth $1.5 Million

What is Carl Marino’s net worth?

Carl Marino has a net worth of $1.5 million. Carl Marino may have spent 17 years of his life as a New York Deputy Sheriff—but playing the role of another former cop on television is what he’s most well known for.

The lead character of Discovery’s Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda has been in the role for 9 years and counting, and fans still can’t get enough.

Carl Earl Marino was born on August 26, 1970, in Hornell, New York.

Marino was from a close-knit family, and grew up with his parents—Carl and Carol—and three sisters.

He is also the cousin of NFL legend Dan Marino.

After high school, he went on to enroll at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

He graduated and went on to study Criminal Justice at Rochester Institute of Technology.

While he was studying, he also joined the Monroe County police force, where he would stay for the next 17 years.

In the 90s, Carl got married for the first time, and his wife gave him two children—a son born in 1993, and a daughter born in 1995.

The couple divorced.

By 2009, Carl Marino had sadly lost both his parents.

He relocated to California to be closer to his sisters and their families, and signed up with a modeling agency to make a little extra money.

Despite moving away from the area, Marino still considers Hornell home, and maintains a 585 phone number.

Marino fell into the spotlight when his agency recommended he audition for an independent film called Sedona’s Rule.

After that, he was cast in an NBC show called Trauma, in a recurring role.

When Marino found his big break—in the hit television series Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda—he already had 30 acting credits to his name.

Apprising the title character’s role in the Discovery crime series, which is officially the highest-rated show on Investigation Discovery, has seen Carl Marino become a recognizable face internationally.

Marino is thankful for the role, and says he can relate to the title character thanks to his own work experience in law enforcement.

In a recent interview, Marino said, “I understand what a thankless, tiring job it can be. Kenda doesn’t sugar coat anything.”

His history in law enforcement hasn’t come as a surprise to many of his fans, either.

He often receives mail from fellow law enforcement professionals who say they can tell he was an officer by how he carries himself on-screen.

Marino believes it’s because those in law enforcement walk and talk a certain way, and it’s noticeable to those who have lived a similar life.

Marino demonstrates a pretty solid work ethic, which he puts down to his upbringing and the values instilled in him from a young age.

Filming can take 10 hours a day, often 6 days a week, and they have filmed from 9 at night until sunrise if the scenes require it.

Fortunately, Marino loves the crew and cast he works with, and he’s built a strong bond with them.

The Downside of Fame

One part of the job that was a huge adjustment for Marino was being recognized in public.

In the beginning, he was flattered but embarrassed when fans approached him in the street.

People’s reactions surprised him—especially when women would cry or shake when they spoke with him.

One of his strangest experiences was someone telling him he looked like the guy who played Joe Kenda, and then refusing to believe that it was actually him.

Over the past 9 years, the Hornell native has learned to take public recognition in his stride, though.

He says he’s still flattered and humbled by fans’ reactions, but he always tries to make sure they know he appreciates their support.
