He was born on August 7, 1978, in Los Angeles, California.

He was named Cirroc after the Book of Cirroc, a religious text.

The name Cirroc means genius in Amharic, the official language spoken in Ethiopia. 

He is the nephew of Kenny Lofton, who was a central field baseball player that played for multiple Major League Baseball teams from 1991 to 2007. 

Lofton began acting at the age of 9, when he appeared on the television show Econ and Me, a program that focused on teaching children on economics. 

He got his first major role in 1993 on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. 

He was fourteen at the time.

Lofton became close to the actor who played his on-screen father, Avery Brooks. 

Off-camera, they developed a close father-son relationship and still have kept in contact.

“Avery and I still have a strong connection. We’ve stayed in touch throughout the years, and his son and I are really good friends,” Lofton mentioned in an interview with Startrek.com.

Lofton began acting at the age of nine on the children’s educational program, Econ and Me.

After acting in various movies and TV shows playing minor roles, Lofton won his first big break playing the role of Jake Sisko on the television series Deep Space Nine

DS9 was a spinoff series in the Star Trek franchise, which comprises the original series and nine spinoff programs, as well as various movies that spans over six decades. 

Lofton played the role of Sisko from 1993-1999, appearing in 71 of the series 173 episodes.  At the time he was hired, he was the youngest actor to appear on the series, being only fourteen at the time. 

After DS9, Lofton played roles on the television series CSI: Miami, The Hoop Life, Showtime’s series Soul Food, and Invasion. He has also appeared in various Star Trek documentaries throughout the years as well. 

In 2005, Lofton announced that he would be debuting his own rap compilation titled “Divine Intervention.”

He announced in a later interview that it was still being edited and mixed and would not be released until December 2010. The album still remains unreleased, and Lofton has not given an update on when he plans to release it.

After taking a break from acting in 2008, Lofton decided to pursue a new career in restaurant ownership. 

He opened Cafe Cirroc in Culver City, California, in 2010. 

The restaurant was a modern and hip eatery that was connected to a wine bar. 

The restaurant is now currently closed, and Lofton has since pursued other interests. He began acting again in 2017, playing small roles in the TV series Renegades and All-American.

Lofton is still very much involved in the Star Trek world and makes appearances at conventions several times a year. 

In 2018, along with Deep Space Nine veterans Ryan T. Husk and Aron Eisenberg, Lofton created and starred in The 7th Rule Podcast. 

After Aron Eisenberg passed away in September 2019, Husk and Lofton continued to run the podcast.

They have a weekly show where they will watch an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and give insights into what it was like working on the set and filming those episodes. 

They regularly bring on guest speakers and people in the Star Trek convention communities, to share how the conventions are special to them.

Cirroc and Sara Lofton married in 2011 and had one child. 

They filed for divorce in 2015 after almost four years of marriage. 

Sara is the owner of Sara The Wine Bar & Restaurant in Culver City, California.
