What was Rory Teasley’s net worth at the time of his death?

Introduction

Rory Teasley was an American social media star. His rise to fame was through his viral TikTok videos.

He was also an Instagram model, and he became digitally famous for his modeling photos.

The Origin Story

Rory Teasley was born in March 1993 in Detroit, Michigan.

There is limited online information about his childhood, and he appeared to keep it from the public.

What is known is that he spent most of his life in Detroit and attended Pontiac High School, graduating in 2011.

Teasley began his career on Instagram during the early days of the platform.

As part of his online persona, he was a comedian, and many of his videos were recorded in a way to entertain his viewers.

His signature dance move was twerking on camera to upbeat music, and most of these short videos garnered thousands of views.

His account grew so large that he began to be offered the opportunity to collaborate with many large brands.

His income grew incrementally in tandem with his level of fame, and as such, his lifestyle changed. He regularly showcased his lavish life on his social media accounts.

YouTube

Following the reality of his digital fame, he decided to create accounts on other social media platforms to further promote his brand while increasing his fan base.

Teasley created a YouTube account on October 19th, 2008, but he was not utilizing it for the first few years as he focused solely on Instagram.

The first videos he uploaded garnered a few thousand views but nothing too substantial.

By the time of his passing, his channel had grown to over 11K subscribers.

His most recent YouTube videos were centered around mukbang, twerking, and gaming content.

One of his hobbies was online gaming, and he frequently showcased that on this channel.

The last video that was ever uploaded to his account was titled “Brent Faiyaz – Rehab (FREESTYLE) @2pump4tv.” The video has over 2.5K views to date.

Teasley was not aware at the time, but this would be the last time he created a video for his fans before his passing.

TikTok

The next platform he utilized was TikTok, when Instagram influencers created accounts to capitalize on the unique algorithm it presented that allowed its users to gain millions of followers by simply uploading any video.

His account is no longer available and has since been removed following his passing.

The last video he posted was “Getting Old A MF,” where he recorded himself getting out of bed while jokingly holding his back as though it was hurting from old age. Text on the screen read “Approaching 30 Be Like.”

The eerie thing about this video was that he was joking about old age and the end of life, and unbeknownst to him, his life was coming to an end in a few short days.

Death

While Teasley was building a successful and fulfilling life for himself, it all came to a tragic end following his murder on January 6th, 2022.

Only a few days before his unfortunate demise, he was uploading TikTok videos and Instagram as he usually did.

According to People magazine, the incident was between him and Docquen Jovo Watkins, his boyfriend of 10 years in Pontiac, Michigan.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s office received a call from Watkins over a conflict between the long-term couple.

When the police arrived at the scene, Watkins told the police officers that Watkins was asleep on the couch following their altercation.

That statement was quickly disproven when the police officers immediately realized that Teasley was unconscious and unresponsive.

They promptly called paramedics, and when they arrived, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It was determined that Watkins choked Teasley to death over something that happened in 2016, making the situation so much more bizarre to grasp.

The two played a team-based shooter named “Overwatch,” and they had a disagreement about it at the time, which was then relived on the evening of his death.

He lost his composure and admitted to strangling Teasley to death.

Shortly after Watkins’ confession, he was booked and charged with 2nd-degree homicide.

Social media users flooded the comment sections of his accounts as well as Twitter to express their shock and condolences.

It became evident that he built a vast community of people who admired his humor and were fans of his work.
