He was born on the 30th of July 1964 and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and is of Greek heritage.
”My grandfather on my father’s side is Alex Cariotacas,” Ted said in an interview discussing the ambitious production line for Netflix and its rapid expansion with Greek Reporter. Sarandos added: ”He came to America as a teenager and changed his name to Sarandos, from Samos, Greece.”
He grew up in a big working-class family; his father was an electrician, and his mother was a stay-at-home mum, taking care of five children.
Ted has three older sisters and one younger brother.
In his words, it was a “chaotic household with five kids running around.”
Sarandos, who felt no routine, found peace in watching TV and organizing his day around when his favorite shows were on.

Late at night, until the early hours of the morning, Sarandos was glued to comedy shows such as The Jack Benny Show and I Love Lucy and would get no more than five hours of sleep.
