Johnny has had many, many reported (and probably unreported) relationships throughout his career in the entertainment industry.

British supermodel Kate Moss was one of the women he had the honor of dating.

He met her in 1994 when he was only 31at a cafe in the UK.

Their whirlwind relationship of 4 years was constantly splashed all over the tabloids, and it makes sense.

These were two very beautiful, very cool, very successful people.

Ultimately, however, it was work that broke them up as Johnny wasn’t able to give his relationship the attention it deserved making Moss walk away from the two of them.

Vanessa Paradis was another one of the biggest loves of his life. A French singer and actress, they met while filming the movie The Ninth Gate in France.

They had two children together, Lily-Rose Depp, who today has had stints as a model herself, and John Christopher Depp. 

The last of his relationships we’re going to discuss is his marriage to Amber Heard.

And buckle up because this one is a doozy.

After meeting while filming the 2009 movie The Rum Diary, they began a relationship that ended in her divorcing him, filing a restraining order, and accusing him in court of domestic abuse.

In 2020 a phone conversation recording was finally released showing that Heard had been the one to be abusing Depp during their relationship.

Johnny maintained his innocence through the whole process, but it cost him both work and his reputation.

His relationship with Winona Ryder was one of the most reported and followed relationships of the 90s.

Johnny, in his late 20s, and Winona, in her early 20s, made up what was considered the IT couple of their time.

He was quoted several times throughout their 3 years together as saying that he was madly and deeply in love with her.

So much so that they got engaged after only 3 months of dating.

But, Johnny felt that wasn’t enough to show the world how much he felt Winona was his soul mate.

So, he did what any other crazy young kid would do for their girlfriend – he got her name tattooed on his arm. “Winona Forever” made headlines like crazy when it came out that Johnny had honored his girl with such a permanent gesture.

Even Winona had no idea it was going to happen.

When People magazine asked her about it in 1991, she said she was “shocked” because it was “such a permanent thing.”

What did Johnny have to say to that? “It ain’t going nowhere.”

But, as with most young adult relationships, it did indeed go somewhere.

It went kaput when they broke up after 3 years.

While they ended things amicably and are still friends to this day (reportedly, the pressure of such a public relationship got to them in the end), it did leave him with a very big reminder of what had once been.

So, Johnny decided to get the tattoo altered to say “Wino Forever” instead.

Maybe if he could change that last “o” for an “e,” he’d have something more relatable but to each their own!
