Introduction
There are a lot of chefs on YouTube—Gordon Ramsay is there. Jamie Oliver, too. Andrew Rea, Mike Greenfield, Joshua Weissman…they’re all there.
But, have you heard of Byron Talbott?
The up-and-coming culinary content creator has caught the eye of foodie fans across the globe—1.42 million of them, in fact.
Here’s what we know about the trained chef with a flair for healthful cuisine and an engaging, endearing personality.
The Origin Story
Byron Talbott was born in New Mexico on September 14, 1985.
From a young age, Byron knew that the chef life was for him. He was so convinced, in fact, that he enrolled at Los Angeles Mission College at the age of 17 to study culinary arts.
After he graduated from chef school, he scored his first gig—as a dishwasher and line cook at North Ranch Country Club in California.
”I was 19 and I was a year and a half into the culinary program,” Talbott told Yahoo in April 2017. He added: ”I got a job at a country club called North Ranch Country Club out here in Westlake Village.”
While working his way up the culinary ladder, Talbott met—and fell in love with—an aspiring singer and actress named Rachel.
Rachel, who had enrolled at the same culinary school as Byron, married Talbott on June 21, 2007, in Malibu, California.
Despite the pair being motivated to achieve their career goals—Byron as a chef, and Rachel as an actress and blogger—they’ve also welcomed two children: Oliver and Isaiah.
Chef Dreams
Graduating from culinary school was the start of a beautiful journey in the foodie world for Byron.
He earned his culinary wings working as a line cook at the Inn of the Seventh Ray in Malibu, Republic Steak House in Hollywood, and Hotel Angeleno in Brentwood.
With four years under his belt at Hotel Angeleno, the young Talbott earned his striped and got the job of Sous Chef—a sought after position for any new chef.
That wasn’t the end of it, though. Byron later worked at the Michelin Star-winning The London West Hollywood, Bouchon by Thomas Keller, and he’s done food styling and photography for Oprah Winfrey’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Bonnie Hunt Show, and House.
Around this time, social media was becoming a thing people did—and Instagram was the platform for Byron.
He joined in 2012, posting pics and recipes of some of his dishes and garnering a following of close to 100,000 as a result.
His wife Rachel was also finding success on the image-sharing platform, and the pair both made the transition to YouTube to see where it would take them.
Rachel made a name for herself as a YouTuber—moving from beauty to self-care to knitting and Day in the Life vlogging to her 1.2 million followers—but YouTube had bigger plans for Byron.

Hitting The Big Time
Byron quickly gained a huge subscriber base on YouTube, where many fans enjoy his down to earth attitude, easy to follow recipes, and excellent camerawork.
By the end of 2020, he had more than 1.4 million followers.
When interviewed in 2016 about the success of his channel, Byron shared that he didn’t know why people watched him—but that he was so grateful they did.
He had started his YouTube channel just because he was interested in trying something new—and because he had a lot of support from Rachel (the pair also starred in a web series called Totally Talbott!).
Byron admits that he’s a pretty shy guy, but he’s still trying to put himself out there and share his ideas with whoever wants to listen.
