Glenn Villeneuve Net Worth 2024 | Ex-Wife

What is Glenn Villeneuve’s net worth? Who was Glenn Villeneuve married to?

Introduction

Glenn Villeneuve has been fascinating viewers of National Geographic’s Life Below Zero for 11 seasons with his outdoor antics and primitive lifestyle. But his fans and followers have always had questions about the Vermont hunter-gatherer.

Does he really spend all that time alone?

Where did he come from?

How did he end up living a 60-mile trek—on foot—from the nearest road?

And most importantly: why is he doing it?

We’re here to answer all those questions—and then some.

The Origin Story

Glenn Villeneuve was born in Jericho, a small town in Chittenden County, Vermont.

Jericho was pretty isolated and lacked the conveniences of the big cities in the ’70s and 80’s—so Villeneuve made his own fun.

He spent a lot of time exploring the wilderness around his home, enjoying getting back to nature and living off the grid as he got older.

Glenn Villeneuve – Wife

In the late ’90s, he met Silvia Daeumichen, who shared his love of the wilderness and exploration.

It was around this time that he became inspired by a story he’d read about famous American outdoorsman Heimo Korth, who lived with his wife on the banks of the Coleen River near the Brooks Range.

The German opera singer would become Glenn’s first wife in 2001.

The pair moved to Alaska, and welcomed two children together—first, Willow Leaves Villeneuve, on May 9, 2006, and then Wolf Song Villeneuve on June 14, 2009.

Although the marriage didn’t last, with the pair divorcing 12 years after they tied the knot, both Glenn and Silvia remained in Alaska.

Both Willow Leaves and Wolf Song lived with their mom until 2018, when they moved in with their dad part-time.

Both kids feature heavily on Glenn’s social media accounts, and have also received a lot of attention from the Life Below Zero show.

It didn’t take long for the wild wanderer to find love again. By November of the following year, Glenn’s girlfriend Trisha Kazan—and her daughter Amelia—had moved to Alaska.

The pair, who had been dating for three months long-distance while Kazan had been based in Massachusetts, welcomed a baby girl—Agatha—on June 22, 2017.

While the father of four—he considers himself an honorary dad to Trisha’s daughter Amelia—may not live a conventional life, his family has so far been happy with the move to his Brooks Ranges cabin.

The family spends half the year in the isolated Brooks Ranges, surrounded by 6000 ft. mountains and over 200 miles from their Fairbanks home.

They are less than 70 miles from the Arctic Circle.

In winter, when the average low is 22° below zero, the family has no power except for a small fuel-powered generator.

They have no heat except for the fireplace—and they chop all the wood themselves. They hunt moose, caribou, porcupine, and sheep, and forage for berries and leaves.

The family can’t even plant their own vegetables, since the altitude and climate are too unforgiving.

Villeneuve’s lifestyle might not be an enviable one…but it is fascinating. So much so that BBC Worldwide came knocking with an idea for a reality show.

Life Below Zero, a documentary TV series that follows the lives of a group of subsistence hunters, airs on the National Geographic channel.

It began in 2013—around the time Glenn’s first marriage was ending, and shortly before he met Trisha.

A core group of hunter-gatherers is followed by a film crew for part of the year, with each individual or family being based in a different—but equally isolated—part of Alaska.

The cast includes Sue Aikens, the sole resident of Kavik river camp in Northern Alaska, The Hailstones (Agnes and Chip Hailstone), a family of nine who live in Noorvik—just 19 miles North of the Arctic Circle—and Jessie Holmes, a dogsled racer who lives alone…except for his 40 sled dogs. Andy Bassich also appeared on Life Below Zero.

After 11 seasons on the hit series, Glenn announced on social media that he had left the show.

In an interview for Joe Rogan’s podcast, Villeneuve explained that in his last season he’d only filmed once, and then hadn’t heard anything else.

Eventually, he sent a message to the show’s producers to find out what was happening and was told they had no more content for him.

In a two-line email, his TV success had come to an end. It prompted a major reaction from fans, with some even threatening to boycott the show entirely.

In 2020, Life Below Zero aired its 14th successful season.
