John MacArthur (birth name – John Fullerton MacArthur Jr.) is an American evangelical minister and the president of The Master’s College and The Master’s Seminary.
He is best known for his radio program Grace to You. In addition, John is a strong proponent of expository preaching. He describes himself as a “leaky dispensationalist.”
Biography
MacArthur was born on June 19, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, USA, to Irene Dockendorf and Baptist preacher Jack MacArthur.
In the early 60s, John obtained his Master’s of Divinity from Biola University’s Talbot Theological Seminary in La Mirada, California.
From 1964 to 1966, he served as an associate pastor at the Harry MacArthur Memorial Bible Church.
Grace Community Church
On February 9, 1969, MacArthur was named the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church, a non-denominational, evangelical megachurch founded in 1956.
Grace Community Church teaches Calvinist theology, a denomination of Protestantism that adheres to the theological teachings and traditions of John Calvin.
MacArthur said to The Gospel Coalition:
”I started preaching when I was young; my first sermon would probably be 60 years ago.”
Grace to You, his daily radio program, started as a ministry to provide audio cassettes of his sermons to listeners.
In 1985, MacArthur became president of Los Angeles Baptist College (currently known as The Master’s University ), a conservative Christian liberal arts university in Santa Clarita, California.
In 1986, John founded The Master’s Seminary, the graduate seminary division of The Master’s University. In March 1998, The Master’s Seminary completed construction of a 32,000 square foot building.
The Bible Broadcasting Network terminated his “Grace to You” radio program in December 1989.
The Master’s Seminary started a semi-annual publication, The Master’s Seminary Journal, in 1990.

In August 1963, John MacArthur married Patricia Sue Smith. John said about his wife in an interview:
”Through Patricia, God has filled our home with love, grace, and kindness.”
MacArthur went on to say:
”He has provided for me a godly partner and a daily source of joy, support, and accountability.”
MacArthur also said about Patricia:

Children
MacArthur and his wife, Patricia, have four grown children, named Marcy MacArthur, Mark MacArthur, Melinda MacArthur, and Matt MacArthur.
The two also have 15 grandchildren.
In February 2020, his son, Mark MacArthur, was charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission with defrauding clients in a $16 million investment scheme. Mark MacArthur is currently the president of M2 Financial LLC. Mark is an alumnus of Master’s University.

We live in a tough world, many challenges to navigate and it is easy to sit in judgement. Only God knows a man's heart and I would say MacArthur holds firm to God's truths and challenges listeners and readers to do the same. God for what ever reason has blessed him with proceeds from his teachings and writings. The key is his heart and how he manages the gifts God brings his way. It convicts me to take a harder look at my own world and how I measure up.

I have been a follower of John MacArthur for more years that I can even remember and I have a few of his books, excellent. Most of the teachings of Pastor MacArthur I agree with and some I don't agree with. But that is no reason for me to cut him off and he's very amusing to me and a great story teller, which I really enjoy because he makes it easy to learn the Word of God. If Pastor MacArthur net worth is $10million, I say nice work if you can get it, I have the same 24 hours he has. As for his kids they gonna do what they want to do, I don't care who their daddy is.
