Miranda Derrick was born Miranda Wilking on February 24, 1997, in Michigan, United States.

She grew up alongside her younger sister, Melanie Wilking, with whom she was very close.

From a young age, she was drawn to dancing, so she enrolled in dance classes through school and private lessons starting at age two.

Her interest in dance was broad, so she took lessons in a variety of different types, which helped hone her skill, and eventually led her down a path of taking it professionally.

At that time, the sisters stopped posting dancing videos together, and they grew apart, which was completely out of character since they were always stuck at the hip since they were babies.

The distance turned into a complete separation for over one year, and the Wilking family became desperate to know what had happened to Miranda.

To clear the air and seek support from the public, her parents and sister took to Instagram on Miranda’s birthday, February 24, 2022, to address the speculative stories that have been growing rampant.

“Miranda is part of a religious group, and she is not allowed to speak to us. They tried to get me involved. I did go. I did like it at first. Then I realized that there were numerous red flags that I could not ignore and knew that it’s not something that I wanted to be involved in.”

Melanie and her parents went on to publicly state the name of the religious dance group they believe their sister has been held hostage by, and it goes by the name 7M Films.

Miranda and her now-husband, James Derrick, aka BDash, who is also a professional dancer, signed with the company in 2020.

It has been noted that 7M Films is an extension of the Pentecostal Church and because Churches are protected at State and Federal levels, the Wilking family has been turned down repeatedly when they sought legal advice.

Since the video went viral, many news outlets covered the story and even attempted to reach out to 7M to hear their side of the story. 

The Rolling Stones spoke briefly with the dance management company’s lawyer, who unequivocally denied such allegations that “7M is a religious cult holding dancers hostage in Los Angeles.”

Aside from this, there is no other information that has been acquired, and the Wilking family is left with more questions than they have answers to.

The family tension appeared the be getting out of control, and Miranda felt it unnecessary for her family to use social media to make a family matter public.

As such, she took to social media to put an end to the “lies and speculation.” 

She created an Instagram account under the username “Wilkingsisters2,” where she and her husband BDash told their side of the story, which essentially was a denial of all the allegations.
