Most of his upbringing was managed by his father and his grandparents. From a young age, Cannon knew he wanted to be involved in the entertainment industry no matter how challenging breaking into that might be.
His first ‘big break’ came thanks to his father’s evangelical work.
At age 8, Cannon was involved in the recording of his song as well as being involved in his father’s evangelical TV platform.
That led to some interest in his musical talents, and it has led to him becoming one of the most popular TV personalities around.
Cannon, for example, started out on All That before being involved in many talent shows, such as America’s Got Talent! And Lip Sync Battle Shorties.
Due to being involved in the TV scene, Cannon has managed to amass a hugely successful life for himself.
Many estimates set his net worth at something in the region of $50M. However, when it comes to determining whether or not Nick Cannon is related to Snoop Dogg, his career does not tell us much!

During a social media post on Twitter, Cannon thanked Snoop Dogg – referring to him as ‘my uncle’ – when promoting a pair of ‘Fresh Ass House Shoes.’ Posting a link to his Instagram, Cannon can be seen wearing some very comfortable-looking footwear.
Naturally, this sent a lot of people into a discussion about this particular tweet.
Many fans of both gentlemen started to respond to the tweet, asking if Snoop Dogg was indeed the uncle of Nick Cannon.
As is the way with social media, though, fans did not get an open response.
Considering that Snoop is known to be the cousin of Sasha Banks, too, fans wondered then if Nick Cannon was also related or if this was on another side of the family.
Still, fans started to talk and wonder if there was a genuine connection between these two TV personalities.
Was this just a simple term of endearment, or had Cannon just let the world know that he and Snoop are related?
Cannon’s mother also added some more gasoline to this particular fire.
During an interview on The Breakfast Club, Cannon’s mother said that Cannon and Snoop were both related to “Soulja Slim,” which might explain the potential for a familial connection.

So, this tweet might have gotten people talking – as did the words spoken by Cannon’s mother. However, it was eventually confirmed that they were not related.
The ‘uncle’ phrasing was just a term of endearment used by Cannon as a nod to how much he loves and respects Snoop.
Just as someone might refer to their ‘brother’ when they really mean a close friend, this is simply a common term of endearment.
Cannon has spoken about how Snoop was a big influence on his career, though.
Despite being naturally witty, Cannon has in the past remarked that people like Snoop Dogg helped him to become more witty in a ‘TV-friendly’ way – without using vulgarity or saying controversial statements that might put him at risk.
He also credited Snoop with giving him the confidence he needed to work with a wide range of artists from across the spectrum.
Having previously found it hard to connect to people who had a different style to him, Cannon noted that Snoop played a big role in helping him to overcome that particular bias.

So, is Nick Cannon related to Snoop Dogg? No. They are not related by blood, despite claims made by Cannon’s mother about being descended from the same people. However, both share a close and long-lasting friendship and bond.
While it might be a shame to find out that two stars who have such a clear and genuine bond are, in fact, not related, it is just the way it goes in the world of celebrity.
For many, the idea that Nick Cannon and Snoop Dogg were related seemed a little out there.
