Her father was a doctor and the son of Senator James T. Milliken.
Her parents met at Wayne State University and were married in 1944.

Sports were clearly just a side hustle for Reum, who also had a political science degree, a JD degree from the University of Michigan’s law school, and an MBA in finance from Harvard.
The pair met at Harvard, and would later write an article together on the merits of employee stock-ownership plans.
It was published in the Harvard Business Review in 1976. Robert would go on to achieve prominence in the business world as the CEO, president, and chairman of Amsted.
Sherry Milliken married Walter Robert Reum on August 28, 1967.
Over the 50 years of their marriage, Sherry and Bob had three children—Courtney, Halle, and Carter.
Sadly, Robert Reum passed away on February 4, 2017, at the age of 75.
He had battled cancer recently and suffered from complications at Northwestern Hospital.
