Biography
He was born on July 6, 1946, in New York City, as Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone.
He has a speech impediment and a droopy left eyelid due to a forceps used during his birth.
He spent some of his earliest years in foster care.
Sly became interested in acting while attending the American College of Switzerland.
In 1970, Stallone made his screen debut starring in The Party at Kitty and Stud’s.
In 1976, he received two Oscar nominations for Rocky.
In 1978, he made his directorial debut and starred in the film Paradise Alley.
In 1982, Sylvester introduced the character of John Rambo in First Blood.
“I wanted Rambo to be this heavier, bulkier, that’s why his first line in the movie is pretty negative,” Sly said.
In 1983, he directed Staying Alive.
In 1984, Sly received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In 1993, Sly starred in Demolition Man alongside Wesley Snipes. He said that the film was “way ahead of their time.”
