Her mom was an American citizen from Munster, Indiana, who cared for animals on her uncle’s farm.
She grew fond of both domestic and feral animals and decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
While she was an undergrad at the University of Michigan, she met her soon-to-be husband, Shane, on a field trip.
The problem with the relationship was that Shane was a citizen of Canada and had no desire to migrate south of the border.
Consequently, Michelle made a move to his hometown in Yukon.
Once she was settled, she enrolled at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown ultimately graduated with an M.D. in veterinary medicine.
Following her graduation, she relocated to Haines Junction, Yukon, to open a private veterinary practice alongside her husband.

Following the opening of her mom’s medical practice, her popularity grew, and she was eventually offered her television series in 2014.
