While still in sixth grade, he was asked to appear in a commercial for Shriners, which he gladly did. His commercials proved wildly popular, and his easygoing nature and charisma won over viewers quickly.
Cabacungan soon began to tour the country as an official Shriners spokesperson.
He made appearances at college games, as well as NFL and NBA events, promoting Shriners and their work.
During this time, Alec perfected his commentating/sportscasting skills.

Since 2020, Cabacungan has been a student at Northwestern University, where he studies journalism. He is due to graduate in 2024, and hopes to become a full-time sportscaster after college.
