He is best known as the CEO of the American injury lawsuit practice “Alexander Shunnarah Injury Lawyers.”
The Origin Story
Shunnarah was born in Birmingham, Alabama.
He attended John Carroll Catholic High School and, following graduation, matriculated at Samford University, where he was a student for four years.
He then transferred to the University of Alabama (located in his hometown of Birmingham); it was from there that he graduated in 1991, with a degree in political science and sociology.
Following this, he attended the Birmingham School of Law, from which he graduated in 1995.
Professional Life
Shunnarah began his legal career at Cory Watson Attorneys in Birmingham.
“I always wanted to be a lawyer, and my dad encouraged me to be a lawyer, but the thing that really got me is the law is in every single thing that you can see touch or feel, and that’s what just really fascinated me, you got three types of law you got god’s law man’s law and universal laws,” Shunnarah revealed in a 2021 interview.
In 2001, he started his own practice.
His practice was initially very small, with only a single paralegal, and he built up custom by distributing business cards among friends, family, and parishioners at local churches.
By 2014, Shunnarah was heading up Alexander Shunnarah & Associates, which had offices across Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.
In 2016, he opened new corporate offices in Birmingham, and now has controlling interests in two firms bearing his mind – the second of which caters to the Gulf Coast area.
Shunnarah credits his firms’ success to the “entrepreneurial spirit” he inherited from his father, who was a dry goods merchant.
Shunnarah has put this knack for marketing to good use; with 2000 billboards across the tristate area and a number of TV spots, Shunnarah is a household name in the Deep South.
Due to the massive success of his companies, Shunnarah doesn’t actually attend trials much anymore, instead leaving the bulk of the caseload to the many lawyers he employs.
In any event, only around 5% of his firms’ cases go to trial; 95% are settled between the legal teams before ever ending up in front of the judge, which Shunnarah claims is about average for the field.
Social Media
In recent years, Shunnarah has been exploring the potential of social media to expand his already-mighty legal empire.
In 2016, he put out around a dozen YouTube ads targeted towards Alabama residents, in which he stood in front of various famous Alabama landmarks and talked about the nature of personal injury lawsuits.
Shunnarah ended each of the ads with his trademark catchphrase, in which he evinced excitement at his firm working hard to get their clients the money they deserve.
At the time of writing, Shunnarah’s two law firms had more than 15,000 lawyers on their payrolls, and took an average of 1500 phone calls per day.

Alexander Shunnarah married his wife, Lorena, in 2006.
Children
The couple has three daughters – Olivia, Natalia, and Alexandra.
Shunnarah makes no secret of his love for his hometown of Birmingham, and still resides there.
He lives in a neighborhood called Vestavia Hills, and maintains close contact – physically and emotionally – with his other family members.
His parents and his three sisters’ families all live in Vestavia Hills, within a 5-minute drive of one another.
