What is Cara Maria’s net worth?
Cara Maria Sorbello is an outspoken and entertaining reality television star and actress who has a net worth of $2 million. She is probably most well known for her appearances on MTV’s The Challenge.
The personal trainer and fitness instructor turned television show contestant might only be famous for one thing—but it is one thing she excels at.
Cara Maria Sorbello was born on May 12, 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts.
She is the cousin of fellow The Challenge winner, Jamie Banks.
While Cara Maria tends to keep her family out of the spotlight, she often sings their praises—and is especially close to her father.
One of her most faithful companions was a horse named Garnett, who she credits as being a big part of her journey through The Challenge.
Garnett and Cara Maria had spent 20 years together, but she sadly passed away in 2021.
Love & Relationships
Cara Maria met Abram Boise—another star of the Challenge—in 2010.
The pair hit it off immediately, and were dating within weeks. Eventually, Cara Maria would relocate from Massachusetts to Montana to move in with her reality star boyfriend.
The couple eventually split up in 2015, following Boise’s cringeworthy fecal incident when he was arrested.
Cara Maria was disgusted and embarrassed by his behavior.
Maria dated casually for several years after calling it quits with Boise, but when she signed on for MTV’s The Challenge: Final Reckoning, the flame haired beauty would end up with much more than she bargained for.
Paulie Calafiore was another star of The Challenge for 2018.
Calafiore was in a relationship when he joined the show—his girlfriend was Danielle Maltby of Bachelorette fame.
Sparks flew between Paulie and Cara Maria, although nothing happened between them on the show.
The lines got a little bit more blurred after the shooting finished, and the pair started to spend time together.
As it turned out, Calafiore still hadn’t called time on his relationship with Danielle.
Both Cara Maria and Danielle realized they were being played by Calafiore.
He owned up to his games in a 2018 episode of Watch With Us, saying, “I made a mistake—I can own that.”
Cara was more emotional.
She cried in the episode, saying that she wanted what the couple had “to be real so bad.”
The pair stayed together, driving cross country for the Champs vs Pros season.
At the time of writing, Cara Maria and Paulie Calafiore are still together. “5 years with you and I wouldn’t change a thing,” Cara wrote on her Instagram in May 2023.
The New Normal
In 2019, Cara Maria and Paulie took a break from The Challenge, citing mental health care and trying to do the right thing for their relationship.
As it turns out, their relationship wasn’t the conventional 1+1 that people expected.
In October of 2021, Cara Maria shared with US magazine that she and Paulie had an open relationship.
Going into depth about what that meant for the couple, she explained:
“I know without a fraction of a doubt [that] this man loves me. We are honest with each other.”
The pair are allowed to sleep with other people, but Calafiore explains that the set-up is by invitation only, and that it requires good self-esteem and open communication—whatever that means to the loved-up couple.

The Challenge
MTV’s The Challenge is a reality competition show that was born as a spin-off of two MTV hits: The Real World, and Road Rules.
Contestants compete in various challenges—usually extreme challenges—to avoid getting eliminated.
The winner of the show takes home a large cash prize and earns the dubious honor of being The Challenge winner for that season.
The show has featured MTV alumni from The Real World, Road Rules, Ex on the Beach, Geordie Shore, and Are You the One?
In June of 2022, the hit show will have been running for a whopping 24 years.
Cara won the Battle of the Bloodlines, which was the 27th season of the competition, and took place in Bodrum, Turkey, and Berlin, Germany, back in 2015.
She won Champs vs Pros—the spin-off—in a 2017 six-week special event.
Instead of pocketing the prize money, she donated it to a good cause.
The Champs vs. Pros event was filmed in Los Angeles.
In the 31st season of the show, Sorbello took out the solo win of The Challenge: Vendettas.
This season featured multiple Big Brother US stars, as well as a few from Ex on the Beach and Geordie Shore.
The season was filmed across Marbella, Spain, Prague, the Czech Republic, and Gibraltar.
In 2024, she participated in The Challenge on All Stars Season 4.
