Eva Shockey Net Worth – $3 million

What is Eva Shockey’s net worth? Also, who is Eva Shockey’s husband?

Introduction

Eva Shockey is a TV host and personality, author, lifestyle influencer, and bowhunter from British Columbia, Canada.

She has become a well-known figure in the world of hunting, particularly through the television show Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures, and has paved the way for women in the male-dominated outdoor field, inspiring other girls and women to pursue the same path.

The Origin Story

Born on January 5th, 1988, in Vancouver Island, Shockey’s life was woven with the world of hunting from the very beginning.

A daughter to Louise Johann, a professional ballet and jazz dancer, model, and actress; and Jim Shockey, immersed in the hunting sphere since his own childhood in Saskatoon (Saskatchewan), former competitive water polo player turned antique store owner, the man who would teach Eva everything she needed and wanted to know about hunting.

Shockey’s parents met after one of Louise’s dance classes, which ended up with Jim taking her home and asking her out.

Six months afterwards they were married.

The couple welcomed their first child Branlin in the early 1980s and, a couple of years later, their daughter Eva.

Jim had grown up idolizing the adventure lifestyle provided by the outdoors, and he got his chance to experience it better as an adult.

Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures aired in July 2003 on the Outdoor Channel, following Jim’s journeys all around the world, hunting and exploring all sorts of rich cultures.

He made his kids a part of it, too, taking them with him on hunting trips disguised as family vacations.

He raised them with an ethical understanding of what hunting was supposed to be like; not about the bloodshed, but about the value of the kill, the sacrifice the animal had made to feed their family, and giving it a dignified death.

These adventures helped Eva Shockey create a strong bond and a sense of comfort among nature as well as a deep appreciation for wildlife.

Although hunting was a prominent part of her life, up until she reached her twenties, Shockey had planned on pursuing dancing the way her mother had, focusing on competitive Latin ballroom dance; she hoped to open her own studio someday. However, her inclination towards dancing was sourced from the idea of not wanting to be seen as a tomboy, but rather a classy lady like her mother.

Eva went to Bond University in Australia and got a degree in Business Marketing, it was just until she returned to her hometown that she decided hunting was what she wanted to pursue.

“In hindsight, that was a misconception and when I got older, I realized that I can be the girly girl that I am and still love to hunt,” the TV host once said to a correspondent on the red carpet of the Golden Moose Awards.

In an interview, Jim reminisced on the day his daughter told him she wanted to hunt, that it was her passion, and that she knew she could be even better than him.

Eva hunted for the first until she was twenty-one and went on to become a co-host of her father’s show.

She could be seen climbing giant mountains, camping in extremely low temperatures, and trekking through wildlands.

Hunting and entertainment became the family business as Branlin joined his father and sister as producers of some of their adventures.

In May 2014, Shockey became the second woman to ever be photographed for the cover of the Field & Stream magazine, thirty years after Queen Elizabeth II.

Her achievements never kept her completely safe from judgment, though.

In November 2014, she received backlash, scrutiny, and even threats on social media because of a picture she posted of a black bear she shot and killed in North Carolina.

Book

Due to her exponentially growing success, Eva published the book Taking Aim: Daring to be Different, Happier and Healthier in the Great Outdoors.

Husband

But her professional life was not the only one successfully growing.

Back in 2012 at the Dixie Deer Classic, a hunting trade show that takes place in the northern border of North Carolina, Eva Shockey met –Canadian–, professional hockey player for the Carolina Hurricanes, Tim Brent.

After getting to know each other through emails, phone calls, and occasional visits, the two fell in love and got together.

The couple married in June 2015 and settled in Raleigh, North Carolina.

After playing for the Philadelphia Flyers for the 2015-16 season, Tim announced his retirement from professional hockey and entered the world of real estate as an entrepreneur.

In November 2018, Shockey hosted the Thanksgiving marathon of Last Man Standing on WGN America, in which she offered tips for cooking field-to-dinner, thoughts on decorating for the holiday season, and views of all things outdoors.

A month later, she released a Facebook Watch digital series called Eva Shockey’s Outdoor 101. The show chronicles the adventures of Eva and her family as they explore North Carolina, sharing her favorite locations and outdoor hacks for a top open-air experience.
