What was Colt Brennan’s net worth at the time of his death?
Colt Brennan was a college and NFL football player for the Washington Football Team who had a net worth of $1 million at the time of his death. Throughout his career, he played the position of quarterback starting in high school.
During his decade-long span as an ambitious athlete, he found success, continuously breaking records and leading his teams to multiple victories.
His highly skilled talents first became recognized in high school, which led to playing college football as a quarterback for the schools Brennan attended.
His big break came when he signed a contract with the Washington Football Team, known as the Washington Redskins at the time.
After being involved as a passenger in a car accident halfway through his career, Brennan was left with a traumatic brain injury that would later affect his talent as an athlete, which unfortunately led to the end of his career.
Tragically, Brennan passed away from an accidental drug overdose in May of 2021 at 38 years of age.
Here’s what we know about the successful yet short-lived life of professional football player Colt Brennan.
The Origin Story
Colt Brennan was born in Laguna Beach, California, on August 16, 1983, a popular coastal town in Orange County. Laguna Beach is known for surfing its beautiful beaches and hiking in the unique wilderness found in state parks within the Laguna Beach area. It was also the setting for a famous reality TV show in the early 2000s, titled “Laguna Beach.”
Brennan knew from an early age he had athletic talent.
In an interview with Matt Levi titled, ‘The Colt Brennan Story,’ he states, “In seventh or eighth grade, it was quite clear to me that I had a chance to pursue a life in sport.”
Brennan attended Mater Dei High School, a private Catholic school located in Santa Ana, California.
In addition to football, he also played basketball and helped the team get to their league championship tournament.
After finishing high school and spending a year at Worcester Academy in Massachusetts, Brennan was admitted to the University of Colorado in 2003.
He was designated as a redshirt on the college’s football team, which refers to delaying a player’s starting time so they will be able to play for later seasons.
While at the school, Brennan was accused of sexual misconduct. Although the charges were dropped, he was kicked off the team.
After losing the opportunity to play for the University of Colorado, Brennan transferred to Saddleback College, where he joined the football team, earning an honorable mention award in Junior College All-America in his first season in 2004.
This was the beginning of a line of successive victories in his budding sports career.
Career
Once Brennan built up a good reputation at Saddleback, he was offered a walk-on spot on the Rainbow Warriors football team at the University of Hawaii in 2005.
He quickly became a success on the team and was positioned as starting quarterback in 10 games of his first season.
Breaking multiple school records and holding the lead in the entire country of a total of 35 touchdowns thrown and a total of 4,455 offense yards, he was moving fast into a bright and promising career as a professional football player.
In his second and third years, Brennan was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and continued to break records at his school and throughout the NCAA.
After he graduated from the University of Hawaii, Brennan was drafted by the Washington Football Team (known as the Washington Redskins at the time) in the 2008 NFL draft. He signed a four-year contract with Washington.
In 2010 was released from Washington and signed with the Oakland Raiders in August of that year, but was cut from the team a month later.
This continued in a string of bad luck for Brennan, who would play for teams of different football leagues including the United Football League, the Canadian Football League, and the Arena Football League from 2011-2014, when he was let go from his final team the Los Angeles Kiss, for a brain injury, thus ending his professional football career.
Wife/Girlfriend
Brennan was close-mouthed about his romantic relationships.
In 2010 when Brennan was dating a Hawaii native named Shakti Stream, they fell into the public eye when they were both involved in a severe car accident on the island of Hawaii.
Stream was driving, and Brennan was the passenger, and both sustained life-threatening surgeries and needed surgery.
Stream’s car veered into an oncoming lane and hit another car driven by a woman that also had life-threatening injuries.
Brennan experienced a traumatic brain injury as a result of the crash that would later affect his career.
When asked about his injury in 2014 in the reality TV series, “4th and Loud,” Brennan replied:
“All I know is I woke up, six, seven days later, and I was—and I still am—a different person. I suffered minor TBI—traumatic brain injury. I just have a small scar, you know, on my brain, but it’s in an area that makes you impulsive and emotional. I’ve had to learn how to control that.”
Shakti Stream was the only girlfriend of Brennan’s that went public.
Brennan was never married and had no children.
