Introduction
Antoine Carraby, who is known by his stage names DJ Yella, Yella, or Yellaboy, is an American DJ, rapper, film director, and music producer.
Born in Los Angeles, California, DJ Yella had a passion for music from a young age.
After a large success in his musical career, Yella went on to work in the adult film business.
DJ Yella is best known for being part of the legendary rap group NWA alongside Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, Arabian Prince, and Eazy-E.
The Origin Story
Born on December 11th, 1967, in Los Angeles, California, Yella was interested in music from a young age and grew up listening to funk music and went on to learn to play the drums.
When he was just a teenager, Yella joined the hip-hop group World Class Wreckin’ Cru alongside Andre Romelle Young (Dr. Dre), with whom he would go on to join NWA.
After joining N.W.A, Yella worked alongside Dr. Dre to produce all three of their albums which would attract millions of sales worldwide.
Following the breakup of N.W.A, Yella would go on to help produce albums for other members of the group, including Eazy-E, before pursuing a solo career.
DJ Yella was known as a less confrontational member of the group and was never one to chase the spotlight.
In a 2015 interview, he said to The Daily Beast, “You know, I wasn’t a rapper, never wanted to be a rapper. That wasn’t my style. I like being quiet and just having fun.”
Career
After his initial success with World Class Wreckin’ Cru performing, drum programming, and providing vocals for the group’s two albums, DJ Yella would go on to help produce ‘Eazy-Duz-It,’ Eazy-E’s debut album.
As part of the gangster rap group N.W.A, Yella would co-produce all three of the group’s albums which translated to millions of sales worldwide.
Throughout this time, Yella would work closely with Dr. Dre, with whom he co-produced all of the group’s albums.
In addition to N.W.A, Yella would co-produce and contribute to several other albums for artists, including J.J. Fad, Michel’le, and The D.O.C.
After the infamous breakup of the group in 1992, Yella stayed on to produce music for Ruthless Records, the record label founded by Eazy-E to work on several more albums and tracks for artists such as Yomo & Maulkie, Eazy-E, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Menajahtwa, and H.W.A.
Debut Solo Album
In 1996, Yella released ‘One Mo Nigga ta Go,’ his debut solo album, as a tribute to Eazy-E, who died on 26th March 1995.
Following the release of his debut solo album, Yella retired from producing music to start a career in adult film.
Over his 12-year career, Yella would go on to produce and direct over 300 ad##t films.
In an interview with The Daily Beast in 2015, Yella said, “I started doing ad##t movies about a year or two before Eazy died,” “Actually, somebody brought Eazy the idea first, but he took too long to answer. They brought it to me, and I said, ‘Okay! Where do I buy cameras?’”
Not to be tied down to one career for too long, Yella eventually quit the ad##t film business, saying, “I got tired of it, and I got bored. The same way, when Eazy died that I quit music. That was it. I just said, ‘I’m done with it.’”
Before long, Yella got drawn back to the music industry and has since started DJing again, saying, “That’s my passion. I’ve been to Paris, Australia, Canada. That’s my thing now. I still DJ the same way, but I’m not a scratch-scratch-scratch battle DJ. No, I’ll rock the house. I’m old school.”
Wife/Girlfriend
Despite his long and successful career in music, DJ Yella has kept his romantic relationships out of the spotlight.
There is currently no information indicating that he has a girlfriend.
As an adult film director, Yella will have been no stranger to sex, and in the 2015 biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ Yella, who was played by Neil Brown Jr., is portrayed as being very interested in women and pursuing sexual relationships.
In 2021, DJ Yella spoke about sleeping with 40 different women on the N.W.A tour in an interview with VLAD.TV.
At the time of writing, DJ Yella is not married.

So, how much is DJ Yella worth?
DJ Yella has enjoyed a long and successful musical career that has spanned over 40 years.
Over this time, he’s worked with some of the biggest names in the music business, such as Dr. Dre.
As a member of N.W.A, Yella produced albums for the group that went on to generate millions of sales worldwide and still attracts millions of listens on music streaming platforms like Spotify.
Despite this success, in a 2021 interview with VLAD TV, Yella opened up about becoming homeless and having to couch surf whilst N.W.A was at the height of their popularity.
With over 300 ad##t films under his belt, DJ Yella is also likely to have made a significant amount of money from his second career in ad##t film.
As a DJ and producer, the majority of Yella’s income will come from song royalties, tours, and shows with the group.
With credits on several albums and singles over the years, it’s likely that Yella will still be generating a healthy income from sales and royalties on singles he helped produce.
With the success of Straight Outta Compton in 2015, the group had a mini-revival that may have seen all members generate more money from sales and merchandise.
Despite probably being the least well-known member of N.W.A, just being part of the group and one of the founding members will give Yella a high price tag for any sponsorships, shows, or advertisements.
Therefore, American rapper DJ Yella has an estimated net worth of $2 million.
