Does Eminem like Tom MacDonald?
Introduction
In the era of social media stars starting beef for clout, drama is currency.
From James Charles and Tati Westbrook (and that Sugarbear incident) to Jeffree Star and Kat Von D, to the Paul brothers and…everybody, audiences tune in to sip the spicy celebrity tea.
Most of these dramas start between celebrities who are on the same level, though. James Charles and Tati Westbrook were both crazy famous as beauty influencers.
The same goes for Star and Kat Von D.
So when Canadian rapper Tom MacDonald dropped a couple of tracks talking smack about an industry giant—and fellow white rapper—fans were a little confused.
If iconic Detroit rapper Eminem decided to clap back, it could end MacDonald’s career.
Tom MacDonald has been name dropping the legendary Slim Shady for a while now.
And now we’re unpacking everything Tom MacDonald has had to say about his rap idol.

What did Tom MacDonald say about Eminem?
Tom MacDonald on Eminem in Fake Woke
On January 29, 2021, Canadian rapper Tom MacDonald released a new track on his own label.
The single’s official music video, which was produced by MacDonald’s long-time girlfriend, Nova Rockafeller, dropped on the same day on YouTube.
The song placed at #9 on Billboard’s Canada Digital Song Sales list. Fake Woke also hit #34 on Billboard’s US Hot R&B / Hip Hop Songs list, and made an appearance at #96 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Fox News even invited MacDonald onto it’s the Story with Martha MacCallum series to discuss the new track.
Overall, Tom’s new track was well received—but fans of Cardi B and Detroit legend Eminem felt that it was those names that were drawing the attention, and not the actual single.
Why?
As it turns out, MacDonald made reference to both those artists—and not in the most flattering light.
“I think it’s crazy I’m the one who they labeled as controversial,
And Cardi B is the role model for 12-year-old girls.”
A little further down the verse, after lamenting over rappers “pushing Xanax” and his inability to talk about race, he continues:
“Eminem used to g## bash and m###er his mom,
And now he doesn’t want fans if they voted for Trump.”
While MacDonald took aim at cancel culture with his clever social commentary, The Real Slim Shady’s fans were starting to take notice.

Tom MacDonald on Eminem in Dear Slim
Just a handful of months later, Tom MacDonald took another lap with Eminem’s name—and this time, it was an expensive one.
In May of 2021, the rapper announced to his 3 million YouTube subscribers and a horde of social media followers that he was dropping another single—and this one was “Produced by Eminem.”
At this point, Tom MacDonald had clout.
He had more than half a billion views on YouTube, had sold more than 100,000 self-released albums, and racked up hundreds of millions of streams.
He was a big deal—but it would take two and a half decades of consistent number one hits to get him to Marshall Mather’s level.
Still, the Canadian rapper with the slick lyrics and deep insight was right: the track was technically produced by Em.
MacDonald purchased Eminem’s original beat, Stan’s Revenge, for a staggering $100,000 at the Detroit native’s first NFT release.
He teased the music video for his new track—titled Dear Slim—with a trailer of himself in a Slim Shady-inspired Jason mask.
Doubling down on the Eminem references, he captioned the trailer with inverted Ǝ’s—another trademark from EMINƎM.
In a final nod to the rapper that Tom MacDonald has listed as one of his musical idols—alongside Tupac, The Beatles, Aerosmith, and The Offspring—the official music video features him picking up where Eminem’s Stan ended.
He’s sitting in a basement, penning a letter to Slim Shady, while the original Monte Carlo from the Stan video sits soaking wet and coated with seaweed.

Did Eminem respond to Tom MacDonald?
In October that year, Eminem, Skylar Grey, Polo G, and Mozzy released the theme song for Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
The track, titled Last One Standing, makes what some fans think are thinly veiled disses at other rappers.
Tom MacDonald agreed.
He took to social media to ask, “Did Eminem REALLY diss me in his new song?”
If MacDonald was right, though, Dear Slim and Fake Woke may not have been the tracks that caught Eminem’s attention.
His theory was that Slim’s diss was in response to an early single, Don’t Look Down.
In Don’t Look Down, the Canadian lyricist waxes poetic with:
“I’m not scared of the altitude up in the clouds, I’m scared of the fall, so I don’t look down.”
On Last One Standing, Marshall says: “when I gotta look down and see these clowns that are on the ground? [Expletive], I got clouds beneath me.”

Fans couldn’t agree one way or another as to whether Eminem was actually dissing MacDonald.
Arguably one of the biggest names in the world and a rap star who has dominated the airwaves since 1998, Eminem has had a lot to say—but he’s stayed tight-lipped about Tom MacDonald.
So, to answer the question “Does Eminem like Tom MacDonald?” is impossible—the Detroit legend has never mentioned him by name.

I've been a fan of Eminem for a while now I am fan of my Tom MacDonald. I look at it this way there is a lot of money to be made, if this two duo could and should work together. I think all this BS is BS and they both need to come together make a few track together and both would be golden.. I do not like all the beef or bad feelings, get rid of it for good. Eminem is always in one song cleaning out his closet or coming CLEAN so does Tom MacDonald when he did that great song Dear Slim. He is clearly a fan of Eminem so Mr. Marshall Mathers you need to get over it and give the kid his props .. He got talent and you could really use that for both of you for the better..

@Lorie, I don’t get the impression that Eminem doesn’t like him or anything just because he hasn’t said anything about him at all. That could mean a lot of things really.. the possibility of a track with them together is awesome in theory & may very well be something that happens in the future. But Tom obviously made it known that he has always been a fan & only has mad respect for Eminem. He was inspired to follow his dreams with rap no matter what & without Eminem he might never had took that chance. Which is dope but I don’t think he did-likes Tom
