”He doesn’t make these guitars, apparently,” Jared later said in a video. ”He orders them from a Chinese website for $400, which is verified … charged me about $1,200-1,300 for this guitar that costs $400, said that he was making it.”
Later, Ormsby Guitars made Jared a custom 18 string guitar called ”DJENT 2018.”
It has bespoke pickups to handle the ultra-low tones and a carbon fiber rear headstock reinforcement plate. ”The 18-string guitar, it’s awesome, and I love it.”
Philip Kaplan, the owner of digital music distribution service DistroKid, bought Jared’s custom 18 string guitar for $20k after Dines failed to auction off his ”DJENT 2018” on eBay. Jared planned to use the funds to buy musical instruments for kids whose families were unable to afford them.

Daddy Rock
In 2017, Jared, along with Damien Ward, Anthony Cappocchi, and Vincent Mindas, formed Daddy Rock. So far, the band has not played any concerts.
On September 7, 2018, the group released their self-titled debut album.
In the same year, he toured with Trivium, a heavy metal band formed in 1999. Jared partly replaced Japanese-born American frontman Matt Heafy so he could be with his wife as they prepare for the birth of their twins.
”I grew up listening to Trivium, and I grew up learning Trivium songs and being inspired by Trivium,” Dines revealed for Ultimate Guitar.
In 2019, Dines left Rest, Repose to focus on his other band Daddy Rock.
In April 2019, Jared revealed his mental health struggles. ”I went to the doctor today because of health and mental health concerns I’ve been having as of late, and I was diagnosed with severe anxiety/depression,” he tweeted.
On October 2, 2019, Daddy Rock released their second album, ”Daddy Rock II.” Later that month, Jared performed on stage with the American rock band Breaking Benjamin in front of 13,000 people.
In April 2020, he appeared on the cover of Guitar World magazine.
”To me, growing up reading Guitar World, being inspired by Guitar World, being taught by Guitar World for the first ten years of my guitar-playing life to now be on the cover is just absolutely insane,” Dines stated for Guitar World.
On January 16, 2021, Dines released a solo album, titled – ”The Djent Files.”
