Though she had big shoes to fill in the form of Whoopi Goldberg – who electrified audiences with her performance in the 1992 movie of the same name – Miller proved more than equal to the task.

Patina Miller married her longtime partner, venture capitalist David Mars, in June 2014. Mars is the co-founder of Windstream Energy Incorporation, a technology company that provides renewable energy products and solutions for emerging markets.
The two met online.
“He proposed the opening night of Pippin {musical},” Patina revealed in an interview in early 2017. “I was pretty much pinching myself the entire time. Like, oh God, is it real, do I get to open this amazing show, and now he’s gonna propose? It was wonderful.”
