Born into a large family, Beato has 6 siblings.

By the age of 13, he was able to play the bass guitar, cello, and was very skilled at guitar.

He was also a regular participant in an untold amount of studio sessions as a session musician.

He is a professor in music who has lectured at multiple universities, including Berklee School of Music and the University of Alabama. 

Rick owns Black Dog Sound Studios in Atlantia, Georgia, where he has been recording music since the mid-90s.

He also founded the record label 10 Star Records with his business partner Johnny Diamond. 

Rick has even been credited for his work in film.

Between 2004 and 2005, he assisted with the soundtracks of three films; Elizabeth Town, Herbie Fully Loaded, and Raising Helen.

Rick launched his YouTube channel, Rick Beato, in 2015.

His first video featured a video of his Dylan, who was able to pick notes in complex cords with ease.

This video went viral, which sparked Rick to grow his channel from there. 

His videos are titled ‘Everything music’ and cover everything from music technique, producing, music theory, instrument tutorials, and pitch education.

A popular series on his channel is What makes this song Great, where Rick breaks down the essence of songs we all know and love.

His channel has also featured many famous musicians, and his son Dylan.
