In 1991, McNamee and John Powell created Integral Capital Partners.
Flying Other Brothers

From 1997 to 2006, he played in the band Flying Other Brothers. The band performed benefit concerts for the Rex Foundation, the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Camp Winnarainbow, and Seva Foundation.
In 1999, he co-founded the first private equity fund focused on technology businesses, Silver Lake Partners.
In 2004, Roger co-founded Elevation Partners, a private equity firm with about $1.9 billion of assets under management. Bono became a founding partner in Elevation after being introduced to McNamee by Sheryl Sandberg.
”Roger’s not motivated by profits,” the lead vocalist of rock band U2 said in 2007. ”Isn’t profit what this is all about? But Roger believes, like I believe, that brilliance brings a better bottom line. Always.”
In 2004, Roger released ”The New Normal: Great Opportunities in a Time of Great Risk.” In the book, McNamee presents business strategies based on technological and economic trends.

He played a minor role in Facebook’s early years. McNamee was also an early investor in Facebook before the company went public.
”I first met Mark Zuckerberg in 2006, when he was 22 years old, and I was 50,” McNamee said in an interview. He added: ”Even at that time, it was already obvious to me that Facebook would be as successful.”
In 2006, when Facebook was a two-year-old company, Roger advised Zuckerberg to turn down Yahoo’s offer to buy it for a billion dollars.
”To sell it at that point was a tragedy, because Microsoft or Yahoo, whichever one it was that was offering the money, would never be able to follow his vision properly,” Roger told PBS in February 2018.
Roger also paved the way for the hiring of COO Sheryl Sandberg in March 2008.
Moonalice
Starting in 2007, Roger is part of the rock band Moonalice.

On April 14, 2009, the band released the album ”Moonalice.” Guest appearances include – Stacy Parrish, Roger Love, Dave Way, T Bone Burnett, and Jay Bellerose.
”I have never let go of the dream of being in a great band, and I have structured my life for the past 30 years to allow me to pursue that dream,” he confessed in 2009.
